Just wondering, if you had to commute daily from the Castlepoint area (no jokes pls) to Poole Quay - what would be your chosen route? Options are:
[]Castle Lane > Redhill > Boundary Rd > Wallisdown Rd > Ringwood Rd > Longfleet Rd
[]Charminster Rd > Wimbourne Rd > Seafront > Shore Rd > Sandbanks RdAlder Rd looks pretty direct but how evil will the hill be with a gear ratio of 3.2?
The latter ... right down the seafront to West Quay road everyday, nice relaxing no hassles except for riding over a bit of sand.
TBH there are quite a few ways of doing it.
You can go through triangle, westbourne, then penn hill, then lower parkstone, then it is a straight through Poole towards the quay going past the civic centre ... all are pretty fast with only one or two traffic lights until you hit Poole Town Centre.
Or there is this,
There is a shortcut somewhere through meyrick park that lets you straighten it out a bit ... once you go through lower parkstone you will have a ton of options on which way you can get down to they quay ... there are plenty of small roads you can "rabbit run" down.
Going through penn hill on the way home I can usually hit about 25-30 continuously after I get up past the hill on the railway station. Going down the hill there you can pick up some serious speed, but they have stuck traffic lights down the bottom which slows everything down and I think there would be heavy traffic going down there.

yep, most direct is Winton H/S (flat),
Glenfurness ave (dip and cross prince charles road), Westbourne, (flat filtering 25 mph) Branksome station, (downhill) then through the flow round the civic to poole,,arrive with the your eyeballs popping out of your head adrenalin pumping.
fuck it Im going out to ride again NOW! -

I used to ride the first option (but starting from Wallisdown) to get down to The George Roundabout. The worst part was navigating that roundabout. Coming back up the hill to Wallisdown Rd can seem sketchy as you need to be in the right hand lane, but the traffic is normally heavy enough at rush hour (assuming this is a commute?) that you can keep up with it.Riding along the sea front would be nice though! But not allowed during the summer :(

I'm originally from Bournemouth, went to AUCB so benroberts, would that be Ben the photography tech? I'm probably moving back down from London in July, gotta build up a track for the new slades drome (for all 30 seconds of riding before it get's peg marks from the bmxers) Is the fixed scene picking up down there? I went out for one ride with a bunch of guys but it was a bit.... well, not quite London.
Would be interested in going for a spin next time I get my bike down.
And I take it Kerley isn't Dave Kerley of previous trials riding fame?
