Campagnolo Atlanta rims would be excellent and the ideal choice. Matching bling.
Mavic CXP30 rims laced to Sheriff Star hubs don't look quite right because of the braking surface. I had the same setup and just sold the rims last week.
There are similar Mavic rims without the surface which would be suitable.
Omega V's aren't as deep but do offer that classic aero look. Also available in grey.
Araya do nice aero rims. Hopefully someone else has experience with them.

yeah atlantas are nice but I think maybe a little too modern and heavy? anyone know where I can get a list of the weights for all the rims campy make / have made?

Do you mind me asking how much you got the hubs for? I am thinking about snapping up a pair for the track bike. I've always thought the campagnolo ypsilon rims would make good bed fellows for the hansom C record hubs. Not sure about the era and all that though.

Try here for list of rim weights:
http://weightweenies.starbike.com/listings/components.php?type=rims- Although it only lists 3 Campa rims :-(

I have campag record hubs laced to mavic open pros, which are good if you don't want your bike to shout 'modern'. Nice gumwall tyres and it looks like you're riding tubs.

My friend had the hubs on Rigida DP18 mirror polished rims (no brake surface) looked baddass. Destickered of course.

I'd also have to say Atlanta's. I just got a pair of NOS Atlanta's, and they are real nice!

I second the campag ypsilon rims. Nice semi-profiled shape and no distinguished braking surface.
Very classy!

I love the way omega V's look, and a good compromise between aero and box.
Look good on pretty much any bike.

I had Omega V's on my Sheriff Stars, soldered spokes

Surely you'd want tubs, for the track, where you're surely going to use these really delicate track hubs?

nice halo rims ;)

I had them on tubs - then sold them to Bob Jackson ;-)

I think every rim mentioned was made as a tubular, except the Ypsilon.

ahem.
Oh goody.

Omega V's also come in clinchers

Does anyone know the last year that Campagnolo made Sheriff stars? I thought they were phased out long before the Atlanta games?

I heard they were completely unsuitable for the road and prone to breaking
-
• #23
probably unsuitable for a hard commute
potholes
and curbs
but for riding on smooth warm summer tarmac?
I have some
& I want to lace them up to period correct tubular rims
I am not sure about the Atlanta rims aren't they too late?
I am leaning towards the campag ypsilon rims which are slightly earlier than the Atlanta's
Are ypsilon rims road or track rims or both?
Do aero rims of this period belong on a track?

Aren't Ypsilon clincher only?
Omega V Tubular is a good choice if you can find them.

Omega V FTW! Ace rims...
Again, keep checking campyoldy.co.uk
He's got some tubs -
OMEGA V Black, 24h - £53 a pair
hey ppl need some advice I need some sweet 36H silver semi aero rims to lace to my new sherriff star hubs (thanks Jos) for a mid 80's track bike - I'm thinking omega v's or mexico 68's - would mavic cxp 30s look too hip hop ?? I'm not bothered about braking surfaces as it's for a track and sunday only bike, what with the hubs and all. Any guidance or opinions would be great, I want to keep the classic theme going, but I'm not anal about 80's only parts.
