• Yes sir.
well the rubino I got the other day as I noticed I had a huge slash in the my previous tire. Oh I had another accident on the way out on Thursday. Sam's fault this time completely.

  • ha.
That boy is a liability, and so are you! What did you do this time?
I had the coldest hands ever after that night in the ice buckets.

  • haha, I know, every time we re all together someone gets hurt. Christ broke his nose today, after a snowball fight turned into a play fight. Oh we were riding riding down whitechapel road, Sam cut me up to go onto the pavement and took my bike with him as I fell of the back onto my arse. Lost a spoke, my head badge and scratched my frame in weird places…
I might not ride next time.

  • That might be a wise idea.
You broke a spoke? Who made the wheels? Thats alot of damage. Still, at least it wasn't you that took all the punishment for a change.

We should go out for a ride though some time. You me and Macca or summit. Ride and a pint.

  • Its not too bad, still ridable. oh a friend built it.It's a great build. Managed to snap 3 in Sams back wheel. I thought you were coming out with us today? Mark texted then didn't hear anything. oh I still took the punishment. bruises everywhere

  • Just been outside, yesterdays slushy snow has frozen overnight and had a fresh dusting of powder on top. For fucks sake be careful if you are riding in it this morning!

  • I'm going out now. I may be some time.

  • ha!

  • Im debating riding or tubing it today,
I have to take back the bike i borrowed so it looks like biking and tubing home
    prob the safe option

  • Not a bad ride in. Minor roads are very icy. Plenty of balck ice. Try to stick to busier roads. Main roads are wet but no longer icy. As you get to central London, ice disappears; minor roads are slushy. Bus lanes still have ice but this will probably disappear as more buses get moving. Best to stick to main lane for a while. Cars still being unusually civil. Only one bus driver tried to kill me. Not bad for a morning commute.

Thanks for an actually useful weather/traffic report.

    +1

  • the roads are fine this mornibg.

just found out a work colleague didn't come to work yesterday, because his mum's car didn't start.
    he lives 1 mile away.

  • that's fucking lame!

  • whats lame is i didnt get to ski yesterday.

    oxford= no snow

  • am sitting on the bus seething! granted all the roads round my house were like greased otter, but if i'd put up with that little section the main roads are, as said above, totally fine...gutted!

  • Put the cross tires back on the tricross this morning. No more fishtailing all over the place and plenty of bombing along the lovely crunchy bike paths. A bit slower on the roads but far more able to outmanouver the idiots who can't seem to control their cars in this weather.

Amazed at how few people can drive in the snow properly. It doesn't require snow tires for this small mount of snow, it just requires patience, consideration and most importantly foresight.

  • seeing as i was the only one in my office to bother yesterday, today is my snow day.

  • Put the cross tires back on the tricross this morning.

I did that yesterday, then felt silly for doing so as once I got 2 streets away from home :/

That said, I made it up by riding a circuit round victoria park about 8pm last night, and boy I needed those tyres then.. ;)

  • absolutely fine this morning. last night was fine as well, albeit a little wet.

one thing i noticed yesterday was how quiet my flat is with no buses, planes or trains.

  • Quite hairy on Nine Elms Lane today, Westbound. Bus lane covered in slush, so had a choice between sliding around with my gatorskins or jockeying for position with HGVs. I made a lot of noises I don't usually make whilst cycling.

  • No probs today, left the laptop at home and wore a lid to be on the safe side but quite a pleasant ride in... On 23s, rear is down to the kevlar... Maximum skiddage... :D

Out of the 6 miles to work, about three of them are on bike paths or untreated roads. I wouldn't have bothered for two streets but the alternative for me is to ride up a bunch of dual carriageways full of people on phones talking about how theyc an't see anything because they haven't cleared their windows properly.

Our grandparents fought in the War so that you could cycle on roads like greased otters, and this is the way you thank them?

  • Top tip.

For true winter conditions, add an extra insulating layer to your shoes thus:

-Buy a pair of those fleece/wool - slipper/socks available at camping shops

-Streatch them over your cycle shoes, and cut holes for cleats.

-Pull a pair of waterproof over shoes over the top of this.

    Toastie toes FTW!
