  • Well I guess I'm just looking at it from my point of view. Living in London makes me question having a sports bike with the performance and riding position not suited to riding round the city - so only geting the most out of it when I get out of London. I have ridden in Ireland and getting on to the open roads is so much easier, when a sports bike comes into its own. Plus the heritage and history of bike racing over there, especialy in the North. Then, if you ride with others, being on a slower bike is frustrating for everyone (although this is as much about the ability of the rider as it is about the bike)....For me, you are less liekly to be frustrated with a fast bike, than you are with a slower one - you can ride a quick bike slowly, but not the opposite. But if you are using it for commuting, carrying a passenger, touring, etc. then maybe something more sensible. That said, I've toured the Scottish Highlands two-up and regularly done the South of France and back in a week on mine, which is a bike made for the track.

As for size and weight. A modern 1000cc supersport is the size of a 600 from a few years ago, and modern 600's are tiny and fast as fuck.

Mmm, this is true, I see what you mean, I'd more likely stick around the 600 mark, I tend to prefer nippy rather than full on speed...

  • just put mine up for sale suzuki sv1000s, 15,000 miles on the clock, 03 model, and a snip at £2750, and akrapovic cans which make it sound lovely...

  • I passed my full test about 6 months ago. I used to ride a TW125, but sold that to pay for a deposit for when I moved to London. I'll definitely have more bikes in the future, need a better job first though :(

I'll probably get a Fazer next, or an SV (pointy one)

If I could I'd get a CCM flat tracker, phwoar

Sorry to reawaken this thread. But i feel like there should be something motorbike related on here, I mean there is a car appreciation thread...?

I'm just getting my Monkey bike on the road.

  • My dad (an old Hell's Angel) just sold his last Harley and has bought one of these: http://www.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk/triumph-motorcycles/motorcycles/rocket/2015/rocket-iii-roadster

It's a freaking beast, so much torque.

  • More photos:

  • It's has a 2.3l engine, and I believe it's one of the biggest and most powerful motorbikes ever produced.

  • The Rocket 3 is even more impressive in the flesh. It is a large.

  • Wrong thread....

  • I think I saw one cruise past the other day. Most unbolted objects started gravitating towards it. Much presence.

  • Weirdly, my dad makes it look small. He's almost 7" tall and has been weight training for over 2 decades. My dad is a beast, his arms are bigger than my thighs. This bike just looks normal for him.

  • Any beast reason that this isn't in the motorcycle appreciation thread?

Love the round headlights, that triumph used since the street triple. That is still is a massive radiator, part of me thinks it should be a big old air cooled lump all air cooled fins out on show. Also the pipes look in the slash cut style.

I posted in the older conversation.

I could always merge that one into this.
