It’s extremely unfair that people like De Klerk got to live long lives, serving as shallow public intellectuals on “reconciliation”- with zero accountability of the deaths of young anti- apartheid activists they orchestrated.

De Klerk and other apartheid leaders should be held responsible for the death squads that targeted members of the liberation movement...

Question; is there a day of remembrance for those killed in South Africa by a brutal regime?

The closest you get is "Day of Reconciliation" which is in itself a repurposed holiday previously known as "Day of the Vow (Geloftesdag)" - a day on which all god fearing white folk were called to reflect on the time the baby jesus helped a bunch of leathery, heavily armed Voortrekkers slaughter 4000 Zulu lads at the Battle of Blood River.
