Didn't even know he was ill
If you go back and look, you can see the progress of treatment and relapses just on 8 of 10 Cats Does Countdown, from series to series.
Genuinely nice guy, real shame.

My kid did/does some stand-up, and SL was always very encouraging when they crossed paths. He’s very upset by this.

That's really sad. I met him once and he was entirely lovely. I loved his standup. I always thought he was genuinely brilliant but almost more importantly, good-hearted. Bummed.

Genuinely sad about Sean Lock he was brilliant and very funny.
Edit. Totally agree on 15 story's high just a brilliant bit of TV. -

Gutted about Sean Lock, had no idea he was sick. Off to watch 'carrot in a box' for the umpteenth time.

It’s hit me way harder than I expected. Honestly gutted.
Such a unique talent, but also just seemed like a regular sound guy.

Really saddened too. He often had me falling off the chair with laughter.

never occurred to me, always just thought he probably had another gig/ telly show commitment. Felt proper shit last night after reading about this, he was the main reason for watching 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown, funny fucker and so effortlessly made me laugh.

‘The Tiger who came for a pint’ really sticks in my mind. RIP

Super sad about Sean Lock. No idea how I stumbled upon 8/10 cats and thereby him a few years ago - thanks, you tube algorithms I guess. Cancer is shit.

Yes!

TV Heaven Telly Hell is still something that I watch regularly on youtube despite there being only 12 episodes. It always just felt like Sean Lock and one of his comedian mates sat in a pub chatting about TV for a bit. Something very comforting and very funny about it for me.

C4 have Sean's Keep it light stand up show tonight at 10PM followed by a classic Cats Countdown episode
He makes light of his appearance in Keep it light, remarking he looks like a Balkan war criminal, I assume because of hair loss (chemo? I'm not sure) and drawn face. I've not seen it, just the audio book

Just to add that I'm also gutted about Sean Lock. Seen him live twice and also nodded at him a few times in Waitrose Canary Wharf when he was wandering around with his partner and I was in there buying lunch. He was also a massive Chelsea fan and a regular at Stamford Bridge.
He had looked haggard and his voice had changed on later series of 8/10 although I didn't realise it was so serious.
He was genuinely funny.
EDIT: oh and yes we too have got the DVD of 15 storeys knocking around somewhere.

15 storeys high was really good. Worth a watch if anyone hasnt watched it. Slept on a little bit. Rip Sean.

Re Sean Lock - Carrot in a box truly standout. Pure genius.

that bit about the nazi island on 8/10 cats always makes me cry laughing

"Challenging wank" does it for me. RIP
-
• #9020
Was reminded of the clip from one of the Big Fat Quizzes where he goes off on the primary school kids acting being shit, it's just excellent.

Sonny Chiba, RIP.

Yes! Remember that! It needed saying

"Challenging wank" does it for me. RIP
Same episode where he talked about going seal clubbing and about winning Rectum of the Year. Had Claudia Winkleman cry-laughing and begging him to shut up. All happening during one of the downturns in his health, so his voice is nearly breaking all the way through.
It doesn't help much or mean much to talk about people being brave while having cancer, because cancer doesn't give anybody much of a choice. Awesome to watch, all the same.

What a legend, RIP.

Jon Richardson: Sometimes you're walking past a playground, and you just want to be able to watch the abandon of children. It's like watching nature. It's like when you watch the leaves change in autumn. Sometimes you want to watch a kid on a swing and think, "Ah, I used to be on swings before I had jobs and before people judged me and before I wasn't allowed to be in a park!" And before you know it, you've been there half an hour and someone says, "Oh, which one's yours?" You go, "I'll go then. Fine."
Sean Lock: What you should say is, "I haven't chosen yet."The timing and delivery made this a lot better 'live' .
Kinda gutted about Sean.
