Very sad about Gary Mason. Were it not for his detached retina, he might have gone much further.
That he was killed whilst cycling makes it all the worse. Rest In Peace champ. I was certainly a fan.

Oh. At least he had a good long life.
Breaking Away is still the only film I have seen where the audience clapped and cheered at the end. It started my love of cycling and pretty much everything I have done since has come from that. So, probably, Peter Yeates changed my life. Thanks and RIP. -
• #867
I've still not seen it!!

The first film I ever saw in the cinema was Star Wars, and everyone stood up and clapped at the end. It's the only time i've seen it happen and it still vaguely disappoints me that it's never happened again.

Did you go on to be a Jedi though? no, I thought not.
Peter Yeates. -

Superman II spontaneous audience applause, when he got his mojo back and beat 'bad' Superman.....

I've still not seen it!!
Make it a priority.

FFS let's not make this a list of (probably) crap films people have cheered at. It's the RIP thread.
-
• #873
I've still not seen it!!
I didn't expect that.
Go for it.
Make it a big-screen experience, don't watch it on a crappy DVD if you can help it at all.
Lovely film.

You know what Oli, some of us dislike cinemas and really enjoy 'crappy' DVDs at home.

I love cinema. Sadly, it's an experience that's increasingly disappearing.
RIP Dick King-Smith.
He wrote some lovely kids books. My daughter is reading The Hodgeheg at the moment.
He wrote the story that got turned into the film, Babe.
