This really got me. Such a multi talented performer. And so cool
Rip Prince -

Aye, so it was. Getting misreported on twitter. Should have looked closer.

Goosebumps...up there with Hendrix
That was the exact same hat he was wearing too when I met him

So bloody good

Glad people like, it is one of my Favourite Things.
Now listening to "I could never take the place of your man" on vinyl (well, the whole of SOTT), can't post, can't find it online. So who has the last laugh, eh Prince? I have to listen to it properly, but can't share...

I've got I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man on right now...a superb track...the full length version
Just listened to Sometimes It Snows In April and blubbed like a baby

When I used to DJ years ago if I was in a quiet bar/club or doin an early set or something I would always open up with 'Venus De Milo'...just for myself...just a little something for me to say to myself, 'right, let's crack on'
A beautiful song

That has put a smile on my face

Is there a longer version than on the album? (With the tease outro)
-
• #5538
I think it's still the same as the album version...it's got Hot Thing on the flip
I know what you mean though, needs to go on for about 8/9mins
Mountains on 12"...now that is ace, about 11mins long iirc
-
• #5539
Mountains = ace
And "Always in my hair" as a b-side not even on an album track
-
• #5540
Yep 👌🏼

In bits over here... I saw him 15 or so years ago and he honestly blew my head off, one of a kind... A very sad day...
-
• #5542
I wasn't a fan, but that is way too young and very sad.

Huge loss. Sign O The Times is one of my favourite albums ever, and those 2007 concerts were awesome.

Bowie and Prince gone in the same year. Tony Conrad. Lou Reed gone not long pass.
Where did all the heroes go? Fucks sake. -

Still reeling here as regards Prince. His first performance on American Bandstand (http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/this-performance-by-a-21-year-old-prince-proves-he-was-1683260364) in 1980 is something that sticks in my mind. He's this nervous kid, eyes at the floor all stuttering and awkward then he kills it with his performance.
That's what I got from him - he showed me that you can be. Whoever you are, whatever your gender and sexuality. Just own it. Proper icon and hella underrated guitarist. Rest in Purple.
