what sad news. saw him at coachella, amazing musician!

He didn't half yentz some birds too...
This really is an appalling year for deaths.
It does worry me that we're not really going to see any more of these genuinely talented people in a society that's decided that Kanye and his ilk are the future of music.
They're not icons, along with those cunts like One Direction and any winners of television talent shows, they're merely bubble gum for the ears.

Went to one of the shows back in 2007 at the O2. The after show lasted more than two hours. Well worth the obligatory cab fare home.
We've lost another legend, yet again.

Prince dead on the day the Queen was born. Poetic coincidence or made up?
-
• #5482
That is sad news. Quite young still.
Tuned out around the New Generation Years, but always loved the Revolution stuff.

Poetic posting after you mentioned poetic coincidence, poetic coincidence or just luck?
RIP The Artist Formerly Known As Prince

Is this the bit where all the good people float up to heaven like the nutty Christians told us would happen?
Is that what's going on this year? Is that why I've been left behind with Keith Chegwin?

This is what it sounds like when the doves cry
RIP Prince

Absolutely this, but there are some bright lights out there.

Guy Hamilton, director of many excellent films including four Bonds. I'm blaming you.

Haha. I noticed a couple of seconds after I posted.

I am dating myself a bit here but ... One of the best shows I ever saw was Prince with opening acts of Morris Day and the Time and Vanity 6. It was the 1999 tour (in 1983). I still remember it well. RIP.

I was only saying to a colleague yesterday I'm so glad I saw him as he's bound to die soon, knowing 2016's track record

Wow. Thought that was just some wonderfully wry joke among all the deaths, but it's true too. Incredible.

I'm really f-ing sorry!
The wankest, shittest news I've had in years!
A true true musical legend, a proper showman and performer, an absolute genius
Genuine tears here
