RIP Eric 'Winkle' Brown. He flew more aircraft types than anyone else in the world. Flew, tested and evaluated most German aircraft types captured at the end of WW2 and was (if I remember correctly) the first to land on an aircraft carrier. Also first flew a helicopter after having a quick flick through the manual and a stiff drink.

Saw a documentary about his career not so long ago: quite a character!
