Looks like its true then :(
James Corden was being driven to the venue by his friend and fellow actor, Catherine Tate.
Their vehicle was seen to swerve uncontrollably whilst trying to avoid a much larger oncoming vehicle.
Two men tried to rescue them from the car before it sank into the depths of Lake Windermere, before being almost kicked to death by a 10-strong group of comedy fans. -

I once saw Richard Griffiths perform in The History Boys at the South Bank - superb, absolutely superb. And who can forget that immortal quote delivered as only he could:
"There is a certain 'je ne sais quoi' about a firm, young carrot..."

"I often wonder where Norman is now; probably wintering with his mother in Guilford: cat; rain; vim under the sink and both bars on. But old now, there is no true beauty without reposts."

There's actually a very touching and well-written obituary for Griffiths written by James Corden in today's Grauniad.

^ Lovely.
"Pass the parcel, that's sometimes all you can do," he said. "Take it, feel it, and pass it on. Not for me. Not for you. But for someone. Somewhere. One day. Pass it on, boys, that's the game I wanted you to learn. Pass it on."
Never saw Griffiths on stage, unfortunately. Thought he was much older for some reason.

Same, perhaps because he already seemed 50-odd in Withnail & I, which was nearly 30 years ago
