  • Tony Sly, the singer from No Use For A Name, dead at 41.

Someone posted it on Facebook, the name rang a bell, then I remembered who it was. Not sure how many others on here will be aware of their existence, but when I was 14 I fucking loved this band. Seeing them live at Leeds Festival as a young 'un was a brilliant experience. Haven't really listened to them for years, and I'm not sure how I put up with that clicky-click drum beat all those years, but even though the production on their records got steadily worse, his voice was always class.

    My old favourite song:
no use for a name - exit - YouTube

    Pure pop:
No use for a name - international you day - YouTube

  • not sure anyone will be aware that you loved the band at 14?

Jokes aside, I used to listen to this band too!! same time I listened to Against Me!, Bad Religion, NoFX, Misfits etc etc

    RIP

  • Too young; obviously. I saw them in Hackney Wick in the early 90s, a great little gig.

  • Jason Noble, of Rodan, Rachels and The Shipping News, passed away last night after a long battle with cancer.
