Dude....

Shit. He must be one of the people to have had a major major influence on who I am musically by simply being attached to so much stuff that I love. And I didnāt even know until I got more interested in researching what I was listening to. Working with him is one of those stupid unachievable dreams Iāve had for years.

Almost forgot he recorded this, unbelievable the number of life changing albums he had a hand in. Like others here he pretty much shaped my musical taste. RIP.

That's very sad, not like when someone dies at 90, he clearly still had a lot to do.
I was very, very lucky to be in the studio at Maida Vale when Shellac recorded a Peel session and it was striking how quiet and normal and affable Steve Albini was. Until they started playing, of course.

Dudeā¦.
Steve was a friend of a friend, one of my greatest achievements is having my name next to Steve Albini on a credit on a record sleeve
I never met Steve, but I know how much he hated the term āDudeā. He would tell a story about losing his shit with a band for saying dude.
One of the members let out a ādudeā to which another replied āduuude heās the dude who told you not to say dude, dudeā
My theory is that Steve got ādudedā

Many of you will know shell opposite frodsham and helsby that you will see glowing from the motorway . I was riding home late one night listening to john peel playing kerosine . Radio in left hand a apple in my right . I hit the rail lines and went flying . Radio scooting down the road . I saw them twice in concert including a tiny gig with the band of susans and the boardwalk in manchester . Put on by Dave haslem.

What the actual fuckā¦

That's grim and sickening. I generally think you can separate the art from the artist but that's harder to do with some things.
-
• #10899
That is some really horrible imagery in that piece.
Maybe a rethink on his work.

Dennis 'Machine Gun' Thompson. Keith Moon on steroids, an incredible drummer, one of my all-time favourites. RIP.
