Pretty sure in the book Dreaming in Yellow they said when he first started kicking around with them he looked like a tramp and they nicknamed him decay which later became DK! Saw him play loads of times, really gutted.

Gutting news. And on the back of Pete from Digs & Woosh dying from cancer a few years ago. Loved DiY and even had D&W play at a Christmas do I also played at in Nottingham in 2010, a total highlight of my DJing!'career'. RIP Simon.

Hadn’t realised that Vicki Anderson passed away last week :((( aged 83
James Brown said that Vicki was the very best of all his revue. Vicki married fellow singer Bobby Byrd, Carleen Anderson god daughter to James Brown. That’s some legacy
RIP Soul Sister

Couple of mates of mine from back in Nottingham (Forest fans/connected with the club) saying Trevor Francis has died.
First million pound footballer. Looking at the figures flying about now, seems ridiculous...

Simon Smith Obituary, Death – I honestly don’t know how to say this because I am so stunned and heartbroken, but I feel as though we should make the statement that the legend that was Simon DK went away today as a result of a terrible accident. I am so shocked and heartbroken that I cannot even fathom how to say it.
Yesterday evening, he was brought to the hospital in Glan Clwyd, which is located in North Wales. Once there, he was put on life support at the facility. However, due to a change in the patient’s medical condition, this aid was terminated at 5:15 p.m. today. My sadness, as well as all of our collective sadness at his loss, is indescribable and cannot be fully expressed through words. Personally, I have known him for over 35 years, and other members of the DiY family have known him for an even longer period of time than that. We have been through a lot together over the course of the last couple decades, and it has been an absolutely horrible experience.
In the heady days of the late 1980s, he was the first DJ that DiY ever had, and he went on to become possibly the most well-known free party DJ in the country. He was a one-of-a-kind individual who was a pioneer in the field. As a consequence of this, he was responsible for inspiring an entirely new generation of individuals to begin playing records using turntables. Despite the fact that it is perpetually unorganized and perpetually running behind schedule, there is wonderful music and sufficient space for everyone. In all my years, I have never met somebody who was so universally admired.
Ever. There is a chance that he has finally made his peace with who he is. In this terrible time, I honestly don’t know what else to say other than that our thoughts and love go out to his family, to Nikki, and to the entire extended DiY family located all over the world. I’m sorry for your loss. Dark Knight, I pray that you have a restful night; you will be remembered and loved for all of eternity, and you will never be forgotten.
