A bloke a lot of us have never heard of, but was a cycling reporter on the continent for yonks, bringing us the news we thirsted for right into the internet era.
It's easy to take for granted the easy availability of cycling news now, but it's chaps like him that leave us fans a great legacy of photos and information to pour over for years to come.
