I agree that Cav is a massive cheating cunt and ruined the fantastic Aussie's chances at winning the Swiss Tour overall. Cav is a cunt. I love Aussies.
"Cavendish opened up his sprint and took a line that cut across several other riders (see video clip of final kilometre below)."

At first I thought it was a 'senior moment' - total head-down FAIL. But the slow-mo shot definitely shows him looking, then 'drifting' towards Haussler.
WACavendish.

And that stuff about EPO in the eyeball, blowing Lance's cover, etc.. wtf? source? That's some pretty sweet conspiracy theory.
.Source - the voices in my head. They've not lied yet. Oh that and Floyd Landis. He said that Lance is using invisible helicopters to hoveer near the finish and put sticks in the wheels of riders he doesn't like.
He didn't say as much but I reckon he uses them to tow him up over big hills too.

'pulled that stunt' ? what, holding his line?
This is the apologist stuff I was talking about. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember one cycling commentator or professional athlete say Cav was robbed, or that the judges made a bad call.
I'm trying to look up the incident again. Anyone remember what stage it was?

Massive shoulder barge? Are you fools watching the same video?
Yeah, I agree he definitely cut across one guy, and then comes in towards Haussler, but then Haussler clearly shuvs his shoulder in as hard as he can to try to stop Cav getting the line. Cav was definitely in the wrong for trying to cut across to the middle, but Haussler was the one that brought them all down.

Rubbish. He was sprinting. Arms move.
He didn't even acknowledge Cav was there until he was going down. -

Not sure if people are talking at crossed purposes but the TdF incident was a case of him being robbed I think by a poor decision (joking aside I don't actually think it was Lance Armstrong with mini invisible helicopters - that only happened when David Millar broke away almost to victory the same year but his chain came off).
A lot of pros and commentators have said it was a poor decision - it only becomes apparent when you view it from above. Hushovd was coming in Cav's right -from behind- into a rapidly closing space. Cav held his line - went in straight as a die.
This time it's completely different - he cuts right across and is very much at fault. I don't think you wer acusing me of being an apologist but I think he that time he was hard done by.

You could be right. I'd like to watch it again (again, what stage was it?). I remember watching it a bunch of times last summer to try and make my own decision, but in the end, went with the experts who, as far as I can tell/remember, were unanimous in saying Cav was at fault. I will trust what former pros and commentators say above the opinions I read on the internet when I'm in doubt over my own decision.
In any case, Thor fucking rocked Cav in the next stage and earned that green jersey like a champ.

It was 14 but I can't find a video of the view from above. That's the crucial thing here. Oh well.

When someone comes swooping sideways at you, at great speed, the safest reaction is to lean heavily into them, otherwise you ping madly in the opposite direction, and most likely go down like a sack of spuds.
For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction - Cavendish pushed, Haussler shoved back.

It's sprintz init.. It what happens from time to time..

I'm throwing my hat in with hippy and Bring on this one, Cavendish has been increasingly dick-ish recently

This from cyclingnews live coverage of today's stage:
So more on that protest at the start this morning. Cervelo's Andreas Klier and Jeremy Hunt were able to delay the start of today's stage for “a few minutes,” according to sportwereld.be, in protest against Cavendish. They hold him reponsible for the mass crash and the resulting injuries, including those to their teammate Heinrich Haussler. In addition, they say Cavendish has not apologised for his actions.

From what I can tell, Cav's been led out a bit later than he might have liked. As he's come round the guy in blue he's looked over at Haussler to see where he is, got spooked that he's not definitely on the line for the victory and had a bit of an Abdoujaparov moment and gone rather messy in the sprint. Possibly he came all the way around the guy in blue in order to keep anyone off his tail but I'm not convinced he intentionally hit Haussler. However, it is Cav that has fucked up and completely deserves the fine.
If he apologises then it will either be for being a cock or a shit rider, neither of which his ego is likely to be prepared to do right now (he'll brobably be ordered at some point, same way as it took him a couple of days to calm down after the Thor matter last year).

i don't have a strong opinion on who was at fault but this composite image seems to suggest on the line issue cav was at fault
-
• #898
Haussler wasn't looking where he was going. Nobody noticed that huh?
-
• #899
But he was riding in a straight line.. he didn't need to. Never seen anyone sprint with their head down eh Brit Lover?

Of course, doesn't mean it's right.
I blame you for this.
He was protecting your arse? No wonder he had to take up so much room. I blame Hippy.
