How the hell did a midget like Contador beat Wiggins, a pursuit champ, on a short TT like that?
-
• #85
Well it isn't the sterile, controlled environment of a track. It was pissing with rain for a start. But it was flat with no hills, even contador was suprised with the win.

Contador beat Wiggins by cheating. End of. Over a longer TT, maybe, but a short one like that. in shit weather? I doubt it. My prediction: Contador will fall foul of the testers before the Tour, and Lance will have a free reign in Astana to win yet another Tour.
Wiggins does tend to start crying at the drop of a hat though. Bit of a soft twat, in my opinion. Needs to learn how to lose gracefully. To cheats. -

well, controversial words there. I like to think bertie is a Good Guy, but we''ll see.
it is consistently annoying the way Wiggy Wig Wigg can't seem to smoke a prologue the way Boardman used to; maybe he's aiming to peak at the Tour. he'd better.

He has pretty dodgy links to Operation Puerto, and didn't have solid enough results to single him out as the star performer he know is, prior to 2007. He suffered an illness, but for him to be so average then take this vast leap, well, I have my doubts. He is a proper gentleman, but this is the trademark of the Spanish cyclist. He still seems like a doper to me.

Wiggins should be used to riding on the road in the wet by now so I don't reckon that was a huge factor. He beat other top TTers and was on what was considered a strong time. This makes Contador's ride seem unbelievable. After getting beaten by Vinokourov in a TT in 2007, I would think Wiggins will be pretty bitter about this.

Think Contrador is peaking way too early, is only March for fucks sake

I think that it is possible for cyclists to really be a cut above the rest. Contador only started cycling aged 17/18, he's got a natural talent.
Look at Jaques Anquetil. He was a huge doper, but at a time when everyone else doped as well. He was a BIG cut above the rest, winning the most prestidious TT when only 17 I think. Yes it does smack of foul play, the climber from nowhere who beats the best at what isn't suposed to be his game, but are we so cynical that we no longer believe that true talent and abilitity alone can create great performances? I suppose the bad guys have destroyed our reserves for benefit of the doubt and faith....

The doping regime Anquetil followed was pretty basic consisting mainly of amphetamines. Whilst he may have taken a lot of them they actually gave very little advantage over his rivals.
The alleged doping regime Contador is on, i.e. blood doping and growth hormones, requires supervision by a doctor and gives a 15-20% increase in power output. That is a phenomenal difference.
That ride on Sunday was beyond belief.

Well he's gone and lost the yellow jersey to chavenel of Quickstep now. A breakaway of 7 riders made it to the finish just over a minute ahead of the pack.

How would you know Contrador is doped? don't buy it, they're buzzing round the Astana team like flies round shit

It's the smell that attracts the flies and the Astana team stinks.
