I remember that's what it said in the description, it was in 2011

Aluminium steerer probably.
-
• #829
yeah I can't find any traces of a full aluminium track fork by Alpina anywhere.
-
• #830
Might have been a matt black version of these? Clearly carbon but different design to the current alpina fork.

and crown.
There is definitely a older and newer versions of the alpina track forks. Can offten tell by the size of the logo. Older ones have a smaller logo and don't have the aero bit halfway down the legs

Next up is some Planet X strada drops as I want something more compact and also something which places the hoods closer to me without using a shorter stem. Also want to be able to have a spacer underneath and on top of the stem, but with the current bars, it won't work.
.Check out the cheapest FSA compact drop which have a great shallow drop and short reach for the money, reckon the shortest you can find in general is 72mm reach.
Does look like the reach on your compact look massive so least there's lots of room adjust.

They look the same as mine, dodgy
-
• #836
Quality control at alpina does seem a little dodgy, I had to file mine to get a wheel in an one of the ends is not even properly round it's all squared off
-
• #837
Strange, as i seen loads of Alpina's with larger tyres to.
friend of mine just got a Dolan with the newer Alpina forks, 25c would probably be quite tight in his.

Just been building mine up today here is where I'm up to
Just meet to find a TT lever which fits inside my magic bars

Only owned one for a few days, why? :]

Any one here own an FXE frame?
Exactly the same as the Precursa with additional mudguard mount on fork and rear brake drilling.
Or add an audax fork on your current one to get full mudguard mount.
-
• #844
just curious about the rear clearance, is it just like the pre-cursa but drilled for brakes and so on.
-
• #845
Oh thanks edd, sold my Dolan a while ago, FXE just an option for a commuter in 2+ months

The chainstays are longer, which results in better clearance - the problem is the low brake bridge becoming the biggest clearence restrictor.
-
• #847
Yeah i thought that may be the case, probably have to have the wheel at the end of the drop outs to fit a 28c and full mudguards?
-
• #848
Longer chainstay? I thought they raise the brake bridge a tad on the FXE.
-
• #849
Ed, those fsa drops look good actually, better than the Planet X.
-
• #850

Longer chainstay 10-15mm - with a wheel with 25c tyre all the way in to the dropouts, you have 2cm before touching seat tube (normally 5mm).
I don't think Alpina track forks were ever aluminium.
