RE the decals:
The latest shipment of Dolans has come from the manufacturer to them without any decals on, so if you're ordering you could probably request to have it without (or with fewer)Good to know, although 2 weeks too late for me! Downtube and headtube logo would have been enough I think. I don't know anyone that actually likes the amount of decals that are placed on modern frames so not sure why the manufacturers do it. It is not as though the 2" high Dolan wording on the downtube could be missed!

Ah, right. Didn't realise the frame was sold seperately, always see it as a frameset with carbon fork, headset and seatpost (£240 which is a good price IMO).
Anyway, as I said the frame seems comfortable but you are probably right about the alloy fork as I had one of the early Langsters with an alloy fork and it wasn't great (made an improvement when I changed it to carbon)

i have a giant bowery frame n fork that is a bit slack and i want something with true track geometry
so i might just butched the fork of that and get a dolan frame for 110 ! -

just a quick question, what size is the seatpost on a dolan pre-cursa?

Anyone have any views or opinions?
Just want something fast and tight OTP to ride around the city around the £800 mark.

Have read in other thread that it is likely that they will both be quite a harsh ride, but considering the state of london roads unless you have wild cat (see attached) i think most things are harsh!!

get the felt

Dov has the felt, give him a shout for an opinion on street riding. He's been riding his about town for a few months now.

^ +1, was going to mention that but i reckon it doesn't need any justification, felt wins hands down.

Strange, I was having the same thoughts regarding the same 2 bikes plus a Cannondale Capo. I want something tighter than my Pompino. I think I've settled on the Felt too.
Peace

for what its worth, i was faced with a very similar decision 18 months ago, but i also had the fuji track pro in the equation.
and, due to availabilty and cost - i imported it from the states for £550 - i ended up going for the FTP and i have absolutely loved riding it. admittedly, it looks nothin like it did when i bought it, but it is a lovely frame to ride.

i've been thinking about one of these, at the moment its between a fuji track pro, felt tk3 or a trek track
-
• #68
i think the felt is the best looking by far
i'm picking up a fuji track pro tomorrow though so will report back on my thoughts

08 or 09?
p.s did you drop your cv off at evans?

as mentioned before, dov has a felt. i see his all the time and i love the look of it.

Dov's Felt looks really nice. He is mega hardcore though with his gear and braklessness. The ride's gonna smash the seat up your arse on both. So I reckon the Felt too.

One vote for the FTP coming from me.

Thanks for all the views...i was bending towards the felt as well just its sheer good looks. I was just thinking about getting one of those saddles that are made for women with child berthing hips then i will be able to bounce all the way to work...
I know its a shame to ruin the looks of these bikes but who and where would i take it to get the fork drilled....as i think i will be needing a front break?
-
• #74
Edwardes of Camberwell sent my fork to an engineering concern that they are friendly with, it came back with a narrow bore at the front and a wider bore at the back to accomodate a modern brake.

There are no Felts left as far as I know, they only produce 1000 a year and they mostly go stateside, if you find one in the country it will be in stock somewhere.
The Felt is drilled front and back.
The forks are carbon, with alu steerer. As I said above the ride is very good. I too was expecting a bit of a harsh ride but it doesn't give one.
