I haven't measured or anything, so good enough for me not to bother. There's a little noise, but I'm not sure if that's just the chain wearing in.

:)
best re read the thread again......... just to make sure.......nothing to do with the spangly new credit card arrival and end of month being payday.Do the framesets come with a star nut/top cap ?
Think all i need is a starnut, top cap, spacers (maybe), brake calipers, cable kit.
Pretty much everything else can come from the current beater and spares bin.
Parking at work has gone down the shitter, the private access road we park on.... the owners like to block in cars and have threatened to lift and move with a fork lift truck. We have seriously outgrown where we are and still have more staff coming and extra fleet coming, there may be trouble ahead :)
I think it's time for a Dolan Commutenger. -

A question on Brakes.
Having been on discs for the last 10 years and a one off user of v-brakes i am not so aware of modern road calipers. Just the very bendy weinman 1980's type which i don't want to transfer to a new frame.
Been eyeing up a brake set of Campy Veloce's at £34
Brake drop is listed at 49mm, some claim 50mm.The FXE is listed as a drop of 49mm required.
Now i know most of you run fixed but i will be running dual brakes.
Could i expect any issues with the Veloce if i have the wheel right back in the drop outs for larger tyres or odd gear/chain length issues.
On horizontal dropout disc frame MTB the caliper has slotted mounts so as you set the wheel further back you adjust the caliper to suit. -

I'd recommend the Tektro R539 brakeset for more tyres clearance, while Veloce are decent, they have a little less clearance than similar Shimano brakes for larger tyres.

Superbe. Thank you Ed. :)
Pricing stuff now, £215 for the frame set, and about another £80 on brakeset/cable kit/bottles and cages/u-lock and other nik-naks. Rest will swap over from donor bike.
Next step the sizing chart. -
• #3184
FXE/Precursa likely to be very long and low compare to your current one.
-
• #3185
Current ride is 57.5 - 57.5 CTC on seat and top tube, running with a 80mm stem but would run shorter, have played with a quill adapter for shorter stems.
Dolan 58 is larger than what i have, not by much, i don't want larger.
Dolan 56 has a smaller headtube, and 10mm shorter top tube than current ride.
From reading through the thread, the trend is to downsize a size.
I reckon a 56 as i can run shorter stems and will most likely be using risers, if i do use drops it will be with CX levers as i will rarely use the drops, they would be nice and narrow and something to hang the bike with at work though.
Will decide by mid week, looks like bits from 3 places and around £300 spend :) the rrp of a Steamroller at £350 was top budget for everything. -

I got this on a size 56 (pre new logo). I dont think the geometry has changed:

That look the same, stack and reach look exactly as expected.
It's much longer than my Felt TK3 in 56cm..

Thats way better than the chart on the dolan website..... :) (saving that image)

Be aware of the steep seat tube angle on PC/FXE which sends your top tube much further forward.

Started a build thread very picture heavy over here >>> https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/294112/?offset=25
Some current details to cross over for here.
56cm matt black FXE frame with steel insert dropouts. 1871g
Matt black carbon fork, uncut steerer tube 608g
Alpina seat clamp 16g
Alpina headset complete, as supplied with star nut 83g
Alpina layback 350mm x 27.2mm seatpost 293gMatt black frame+fork only has 3x white Dolan logos which are peel-offable.
frame and fork have ample room for 28mm tyres (haven't tried larger yet)
Drive side chain/seat stays have dimples/forming for cassette clearanceThis should bring up to date some of the chatter over the last 30 pages of this thread as the frame has changed a bit and this is the current form.

Does anyone know how long do Dolan usually take to ship items abroad (to Europe)? I'm asking because I've placed an order last Saturday evening and I'm still waiting to hear from them.
-
• #3193
Four working days from I placed the order to shipped.
-
• #3194
Did you receive any invoice from them, another than the confirmation of the order? I'm asking because I'm used to receive an e-mail everytime I buy something saying that the payment got through and truth is, I've got nothing yet from them.
edit: Scratch everything that I said. It's on route. Just saw on the website. Cheers.

Anyone has measured standover height of 56 cm pre cursa frame?
I have 85cm inseam and can't decide if I should buy 54 or 56 cm frameset. -
• #3196
If u like riding with short stem go 56, if u like riding medium stem go 54.
-
• #3197
Standover height is ~81cm
-
• #3198
Yea, well. I was planning to use 100+ stem, so should probably go for 54 cm frame, which is 2 sizes smaller than recommended. Hope my back won't snap while riding in drops.

Got a 54cm F&F going if interested?
Used twice - literally :(
Rad!
Is the chainline alright with that 111mm BB?
