  • I have messed around with this a fair bit since I last posted. New bars, levers, and stem. Almost happy with the bike although I think that I need to move my saddle forward... Hopefully this doesn't throw everything else off.

  • .

  • Or levelled the saddle a little bit more if it feel like you're sliding forward.

  • Ned, is the frame a 54 or 56?
You looked comfortable enough on it yesterday, but I didn't spot how far back the saddle was positioned.
Maybe looks a bit too stretched-out (those traditional shaped bars). Those levers (Cane Creek/Tektro?) look like they might be a bit of a stretch when in the drops, which won't beideal if you plan to attach them to something ;-)
Compact drops might be a better choice. PM me if you want to try/buy @c0gsucker 's old 3T Ergonova Pro.
Also, you might get on with it, but I find that due to its shape, a Concor isn't a comfortable long term choice for a stretched-out position; you sit 'in' it like a hammock, so it lends itself to a more upright position, and tends to rub the wrong way if used otherwise. Here, you've tilted down the nose to remedy this, but if you like a stretched position, you'd be more comfortable in the long run trying something flatter, with a slightly wider nose.

  • now that ive done this..should i get life insurance?

  • Best of luck!
Is that a bit of filler on top of the original weld?

  • It was ground back, drilled either side of a 1cm long hairline then tig welded. Seems to have penetrated ok. Now it has to mature for a while.

  • here is my parts bin ("all-black ") build of a TC1 frame I got a few months back - should I go for a shorter stem, drops? not liking the looks of it up front...

  • If you're hellbent on the bullhorns then a shorter and horizontal stem, if you bring the bendy part right to where your hands are you won't need to point the whole thing up at an angle.
This stem with a pair of risers would look good too I reckon.

  • horisontal stem baby - and let the horn continue in the horisontal plane - parallel'ish to the top tube.

  • What angle degree stem do I need for it to be horizontal here? -7?

  • -17 ish and if u feel a little stretched out, go for a shorter stem

  • @Lukas @edscoble I think that the saddle is level, but that photo is just bad. With Concors I always find it hard to tell. The bike was also leaning away from me when I took the photo.

I think that I need to move the saddle forwards because when I watch my leg whilst pedaling it looks a bit funny when I get towards the bottom of the pedal stroke. It is as if my knee is in the wrong place in relation to the ball of my foot. Apart from that though I am nice and comfortable so I should probably stop obsessing about it and ride my bike a bit more and work out whether it actually matters!

    BTW it's a 54.

  • Yep, it's the photo angle and setback that makes it look not quite level. I suppose the nose and rear are higher than where you sit most of the time, so it's never going to be level whichever way you look at it.

  • The saddle is too far back. If you align the clamp with the side logo, you should be fine. Btw, the saddle is level when the logo is level flat.

  • Wow how have I only just realised this thread existed after riding a Track Champ for far too long! Mine's been through some strange phases particularly the 'JIM FIXED IT FOR ME' paint job but feeling like its time to move on to something new soon although my overdraft is telling me otherwise... anyway heres some pictures of the jokes paint jobs I've had!

  • That black-orange fade looks great.

No comment on the others as I fear reprisal from the Wigan Street Mafia.

    they're not all that.

  • @r0bb0 what sort of frames are you thinking about? Hope you're still keeping it, for sentimental value and whatnot.

  • After a 54 or 56 or 58 frame london collect, if anyone has anything going
