Putting a pre-cursa together and there is some play with the seat post inserted into the seat tube. It tightens up, but should it not be a more snug fit?

Because they're better. Not all of them cracked. The one I just sold on to what became the 4th owner had been taken through its paces on and off the velodrome for plenty of years with no issues.

I have had several track champions and none have had the seat post area crack. Not beyond wildest imagination to suggest some user error alongside some frames with manufacturing faults. Solid, well performing track iron imo.
