Alpine track forks are already drilled, they are just plugged in and painted over. I did mine and have no idea how this individual managed to do what they've done.
How old are yours? I have never seen a plugged/painted Alpina.

The ones I've looked at seemed to have a bolt in them too.

I'm ordered framset pre cursa on 5 February, today the order is 'In process'.
Do you know how many days take to send it? -
• #1732
Suppose in depends on stock/how busy, but I remember mine coming the week after I ordered it, so 5 working days maybe (in my case).

So, new geo 'cursa and fxe- whats the consensus on maximum tyre size?
-
• #1738
28 slammed in the back and 28 on front with ease. Theukr managed to fit a 35 in the back too.
-
• #1739
Wasn't that the 'older' style FXE?
-
• #1740
I don't know what you mean by new geo, but they're still largely the same frame.
edit - unless you mean the change in geo sheet not long ago, that was Dolan realising that their measurement isn't correct.

There's some discussion over on STE5's thread about max tyre sizing, and differences between the newer frames and the older frames (of which Theukr's is an example).
Considering the FXE to fill 4 roles- fixedTT/daily in summer, SSCX/daily in winter...
Would be good if possible. -

I was told by Dolan the fxe only fits 25s with guards.
AFAIK you can get 28s in the precursa (though not sure with the track fork) but it's got no bottle bolts.

Running 28/28c with race blades On the PreCursa completely fine really, so not sure why Dolan would say you can only fit 25's on an FXE.
I even managed to fit sks bleumels on 25c rear with a bit of adjustment. On front track forks, the guards fit with a bit of a squeeze and 23c's.
-
• #1744
They said 25s with full guards.
-
• #1745
35c rear on the (newer) PreCursa in the end of the drop outs - look further back in the thread for pics and info. (slammed in the dropout - 25c touches the (brake)bridge). So the range is 25c slammed in the dropouts and 35c furthest in the dropouts.

Could anyone please be so kind as to tell me what size/type bb goes with the pre cursa? It's for a friend.
-
• #1747

Brilliant, cheers pal

while we're on the topic of tyres: i'm about to buy a gatorskin/hardshell and was wondering if 25mm will be fine on the navigator pista wheels (loads of people seem to use these wheels with precursas but i've heard they can be a bit of a pain when it comes to the tyre sitting properly on the rim)
-
• #1750
it'll be perfectly fine. I've never had an issue with tyre seating on 2 separate sets of navigators

I'm stealing the front wheel and maybe selling the disc still but I might end up keeping this after all. It's not a bad bike to having knocking around in case I want a go down the track.
