well I live a bit outside Bristol, so getting there would be fine, Ashton Court is a bit of a bitch, then suspension bridge and then clifton.

What's gone on with the fork drilling? Have you put a sleeve in or something?

What do you whink about alpina track fork vs. dolan road fork from precursa's frameset?
Same quality? Is better buy alpina and drill it? -
• #1685
Just choose which you want, go for the road as it'll be better suited for it.

yeah, it's really obvious where to drill, guy I got to do it machined the insert himself I think, looks classy.
-
• #1688
I see. It does look tidy.
-
• #1689
I don't think you can drill the alpina track forks. Or so I have been repeatedly told.
-
• #1690
Plenty have.
-
• #1691
Really? I was told it wasn't advisable by loads of places. But never understood why
-
• #1692
Trust the internet, not the real people.
-
• #1693
haha fair enough. Just don't apply that theory to much else.
-
• #1694
drilled mine, really easy

You're not going to find anyone with a name/face/business dumb enough to tell you "it's safe to drill these track forks – what's the worse that can happen".
You might get them drilled it you tell someone to do it.
All bets are off when on the internet. All the dumb people hang out here. ;-)

I've had two pairs. The ones on my pre cursa have a bolt through the middle but the others which came with an older pre cursa didn't. Reckon the old ones would be easy to drill but I could see why the newer ones might be a bit tricky with the bolt in there.
-
• #1697
you drill to the bolt then push it out. easy peasy
-

What's the frameset ordering process like with Dolan? Website says there can be delays as they're a bit busy.
Also, would I need a long drop brake if using the Alpina Road Fork (and SKS mudguards)?
-
• #1699
The road alpina fork eats regular reach brakes.

Ah, fair enough.
Yeah not worth the future knee blowouts. I like it loose (bring the jokes). Way more fun too. Always think it depends on your set up a bit too though.
