I think i'm just going to have find and sit on some of these machines as its all going to come to fit (obviously). Those ridleys look amazing though especially in the green, its the sort of thing that will make you stay in bed a little longer in the morning!!
But well summed up..cards are most definitely on the table!! Now i need to sell some stuff to drum up some cash! So off to the classified section!!
Cheers Guys!!!

Hello, Pre-Cursa owners/dealers.
What's the largest chainring/sprocket combo that can be accomodated by the track ends?
E.g. I had to file my Condor alu Pista's track ends a wee bit to be able to fit 44/22 or 44/18 with one less link, or 46/20 & 46/16 with one less link etc. This allowed me to fit/remove the wheel without breaking the chain (just).
So I know that on the Condor, depending on chain length, I can fit maximum chainring/sprocket teeth totals of 58, 62, 66 and so on.
Thanks for nothing.

Thanks for trying. That looks a bit like 48/18 or 48/19, but it also looks like there's still room for the wheel to come forward.
Inconclusive.
I'm not sure if there's a way of working it out, other than to keep upping the teeth until it's impossible to slip the chain off at the shortest point.
Will watch this space, and all the others in which I've posted my tedious enquiry.

48x18 is fine on mine. A 19T would be a squeeze.
If you're looking to get one, Graham Weigh's eBay shop is quite cheap.

Anyway, if that's 48/16, then 48/18 (or 66/62/58 etc) will be fine.
Amazingly proactive behaviour from some embittered forum old-timers.

You wouldn't be saying that about a Henry or one of those hipster Dysons.

@ pifko: are they truvativ omnium cranks? are you having trouble with the cranks clearing the chainstay? it's extremely close with my precursa and miche advanced chainset. i was considering getting the omniums but thought it might be the same.

Possibly a stupid suggestion:
Couldn't you just buy 2 chains and extend one with links from the other? Not exactly ideal, but hopefully then you would have enough links left over from the second chain to provide links for a couple of replacements over time. So you dont have to get 2 chains every time you replace the worn chain. Or is that a stupid thing to do? -

I've no idea. I want to be able to run 46/16 at the shortest point, and then switch the wheel and ride 46/14 at the track. That is all. It's fucking annoying carrying more than one chain to the track, which I'd have to do with those gears if the trackend/chainstay was 1/8" shorter at the shortest point. Dya get me?
I know 'serious' trackies will have various chains in their bag of tricks. I am not.

You have to be at some point...
and you also need to be able to use more than one gear at the track -
• #124
I'll use 46/16 and 46/14 (and bring along a 13 for overgear work). If need be, I'll buy a 47 and 48t ring to use with the 14.
Same chain.

I've been getting away with the same chain for everything from calshot 79 to 107 OG efforts, most Dolans do have decently long trackends
The photo I included for the Ridley Oval is the 2008 model (I believe).
This is the latest version (in black or green): 2009 Ridley £1,099 from DaveKaneCycles
