My brother was one of their data centre managers- they offered him the opportunity to accept a 10% paycut, along with a lot of his co-workers.

Whilst a fair few of his co-workers decided that they would accept the 10% paycut and then do 50% less work he quit- seems as though he was jumping before the massacre (to mix my metaphors hugely).

he should have stayed and taken voluntary redundancy.

He was a contractor.

Anyone selling short on Barclays probably just lost their shirt. The only people still in the game are the day traders. I know everyone hates them but doing what they do takes some balls.

There is a notion that speculative trading is immoral but I don't understand why, I mean the whole point of a stock market is speculation, why does the time frame matter? or am I missing something?

I made Mal take all her money out of Barclays after they stiffed her on an insurance claim. Barclays can fuck right off.

there is a free market out there
banks are having a hard time, loosing loads of money and thus their share price should drop it's a no brainer
there are people out there who can take advantage of this and sell short
don't have a go at the hedge fund managers they are identifying weakness's within companies and making money from it, just like hedge fund managers spotting a good company and buyng shares in it, it works both ways
the only reason these share prices are dropping is cos the world fucked right now ..... now thats because you and me took out huge loans to buy BMW's and houses we couldn't afford
