  • My brother was one of their data centre managers- they offered him the opportunity to accept a 10% paycut, along with a lot of his co-workers.

Whilst a fair few of his co-workers decided that they would accept the 10% paycut and then do 50% less work he quit- seems as though he was jumping before the massacre (to mix my metaphors hugely).

  • he should have stayed and taken voluntary redundancy.

  • He was a contractor.

  • Anyone selling short on Barclays probably just lost their shirt. The only people still in the game are the day traders. I know everyone hates them but doing what they do takes some balls.

  • And a complete lack of morals.

  • There is a notion that speculative trading is immoral but I don't understand why, I mean the whole point of a stock market is speculation, why does the time frame matter? or am I missing something?

(this is the point where my girl starts whispering in my ear about them things we spoke about)

  • are cunts. I used to work for them. I should know

So does armed robbery. That possibly has more morality.

  • What are you on about? why is trading shares immoral all of a sudden?

  • I made Mal take all her money out of Barclays after they stiffed her on an insurance claim. Barclays can fuck right off.

  • I wasn't aware that Barclays Bikes sold fixed gear bikes. Well, maybe they do now, but I haven't been there for some time.

  • Well they got to sell something since they stopped lending folk money.

These are the bad guys the bloody banks.

They act all ethical and then behave completely unethically.

  • What are you on about? why is trading shares immoral all of a sudden?

    Where to start...

  • Is this going to be some marxist diatribe because if it is I am off to bed.

  • We've found a cure for the Buddhas insomnia!

  • Speculators are making a fortune , while others are losing jobs because of what they are doing.

  • Is this going to be some marxist diatribe because if it is I am off to bed.

Sleep tight. Don't dream of George Soros...

  • Yeah bunch of city trading cunts ...I am off to bed x

  • there is a free market out there
banks are having a hard time, loosing loads of money and thus their share price should drop it's a no brainer
there are people out there who can take advantage of this and sell short
don't have a go at the hedge fund managers they are identifying weakness's within companies and making money from it, just like hedge fund managers spotting a good company and buyng shares in it, it works both ways
the only reason these share prices are dropping is cos the world fucked right now ..... now thats because you and me took out huge loans to buy BMW's and houses we couldn't afford
blame the people who took up the credit as well as the pople who gave it out

  • "now thats because you and me took out huge loans to buy BMW's and houses we couldn't afford"

I didn't. not everyone 's a greedy cunt who expects to live a lifestyle funded by credit.

  • nor me
but there are plenty of people who did do stupid things over the last few years
i would say if there was any bunch of people who would shun owning a bmw it would be this forum
but then again i do see an awful lot of nice expensive bikes out there !!
i'm angry that brown and blair said there shouldn't be boom and bust and then did this to us
i am angry at people in essex who run up massive credit card bills buying shoes and clothes for fucks sake and then wear them once

    i only own 7 bikes

    hypocrasy .... i think so !

  • My friend Claude-Jean borroweed £10 off me last week. Should I ask for it back?

  • not if you are getting more than 1% interest per month

  • see, there is actually some interesting debate

good news for those long today

  • personally with the way things are i would buy a ftse tracking company and avoid any risks on the individual companies, long term 12 month investment
you just never know whats round the corner....... all your eggs and all that
ft article todays stating british companies will see the biggest recovery over the next 12 months
    BUY BRITISH
