  • good to hear there aren't any serious injuries.

that police response is an absolute joke considering the new bike safety 'campaign' that boris has just launched.

like fudge says, make a complaint. we really need people to start taking things like this seriously. if even the authorities don't care about the safety of cyclists on the road, i dread to think what kind of message that sends out drivers.

  • Good to hear a fellow James is still alive, heal up well mate, and I hope nothing expensive has been damaged on the bike!

  • 10 minutes later I got a call from the police and was told off for wasting their time

Ha police are such wankers. they dont mind wasting thier time on stupid little things like randomly stop searching my mate under the terrorism act as he walked up the road to work. but its a waste of time to report an accident?

    Putos Policias

glad your ok and didn't get too mashed by the car

  • like fudge says, make a complaint. we really need people to start taking things like this seriously.

exactly, it would help to say that it shows "poor community and customer focus". doesn't sound like much but it will hit a nerve and you might see some more action.

  • Glad you're ok Mr. James. Hope the bruises heal up soon.

  • heal up jiggy.

  • quit riding, and go back to dancing across town

  • Heal up mate, not a good week for it, I was also in a cycle lane and some clever cnut on a scooter decided to squeeze between me and a taxi, clipped my front wheel which bounced wobbled into a pothole (which I was avoiding) flew over the bars landed straight on me knees. Prick on scooter drove off and I narrowly avoided getting my arm squished by the taxi behind. Got to true the wheel now.

Shit that's rough! Cant you get the details of the moped from CCTV. Surely if they caused injury to an MP/dignitary then they'd find the cunt????

  • lights were smashed, scratches to handle bars/brake levers

    wheel may need re truing

glad i was not on the new (to me) Seven Axiom

What were you on? Not the Serotta surely?

    And hope you mend yourself.

  • first you waste the police's time, and now you waste ours! ;)

    glad you are okay james.

    ride safe

  • unlucky dj, glad to hear you're ok and the bikes not too bad.

understand how you feel about police's attitude.

The driver and I were amazed at the police response to the incident. If I were to be knocked off my bike again I could not think of a more pleasant or helpful driver to be involved. Would still report the incident.

glad to hear the tweed run gentlemanliness is still around!

  • what! you didnt flip over the bonnet with a double tuck, land en guarde! and slash a Z into his shirt!? ..waste my time indeed, you prob pulled those poor coppers away from a very important training video ..the bill season one box set.

  • hey, pretty much exactly the same thing happened to me a while back, if you had any pace going at the time its worth checking out the alignment because my frame seemed ok (both wheels buckled etc) but they (BLB) reckoned an internal fracture might have mean the bike could break while I was riding. I guess if you didnt really have any pace it doesnt matter too much, glad your alright though!

  • Hope you are alright James, but Hael is right, it needed some zorro style finish where you carve "531" into the mans chest!

  • High Street Ken is all wrong. The people on it, the civil engineering, vibe, everything (well ok the surface is decent).

Hope you get better soon. Once again the actions of the pigs beggars belief.

    Peace

  • James. Hope none of your Rapha kit was scratched. Glad the bike is OK

[and of course happy to hear that you are too - mwah]

  • DJ hope you're ok. Rest up and heal quick.

Seven at wests this week ;)

  • Glad everything is alright with you DJ.
You will never get a full house with shit like this, will you? Not once has there been a) minimal injury/damage b) nice or apologetic driver with insurance and c) helpful cops.
2/3 ain't bad, but it's the cops that you really need to be helpful!

  • You should learn how and where to ride properly.

  • Great news PimpingJames!
    (that you are OK)

  • You should learn how and where to ride properly.

haha. i hope that was a joke between friends!

I now have this wonderful (sometimes dysfunctional) family of people, who offer support and advice so generously.

  • You should learn how and where to ride properly.

You are a wanker, dancing james was in an incident and all you say is this!?^^^

Seriosuly though, maybe you could call them back and make a complaint after all. About them. stevo-com has given you the buzzword ammo.

  • As for the pigs and their toss about reporting - what about this 'need to adding accidents to the statistics' thing I keep hearing about from LCC and co. Oliver - what's the deal?
I was under the impression you should still report - I mean what happens if when you get home tonight you're still a bit sore, go for an xray and your wrist is broken or something?

The police may be right that given the driver's collaborative attitude, this should be sorted out via insurance company etc. However, the police still have a job to do in making a note of this incident (using the STATS19 reporting system). The system is far from perfect, but it's the only official way we really have of assessing the number of collisions that occur. Studies of hospital admissions suggest that there is a high level of under-reporting of injuries sustained in daily traffic.

The problem is that there should really be far more proper traffic police in London. London's existing traffic police do an excellent job, but there are only around 700 of them. Yes, I kid you not, 700 for the whole of London. The 'other' police, who are likewise busy well over capacity, don't see traffic enforcement as their job so much. Obviously, some officers do, and you may well get an officer doing an excellent job around a collision, but it's not always the case.

If a collision gets reported properly, that can assist in ultimately reducing the number of collisions, e.g. through future provision of cycle-friendly measures. Where that weight of collision reporting doesn't exist, there may well not be enough evidence to point up problems with a given layout or justify a local safety scheme or some other remedial measure.

This is someone trying to be funny at Paul-Michel's expense. Ignore.

  • You should learn how and where to ride properly.

The reason why I have a Ti bike is to save me having to learn how and where to ride.

At least if I die the bike lives on.
