  • i like the idea of this. how far would the sprint be?

  • RPM makes a good point.. Say limit the gearing to around 80"? I can't imagine many people use anything much higher than that around town

  • What distance? 1/4 mile? Just to keep it real.

  • gear limit is?

Small enough that you can claim that its for personal consumption.

  • There was a courier drag race from Shepherds Bush to Old St Roundabout some years ago, essentially one straight (ish) road all the way...

  • The trouble with Regents Park Circle is that the road surface is bloody awful. If you hit one of the many potholes at speed, there is a good chance of coming off, or causing some other damage. If Camden council got their arse in gear and tarmaced it properly, it would be perfect

    HTFU Mike ;-)

  • I tried drag sprints, but I kept getting my dress caught in the chain.

    I thank you.

  • Get your coat...

  • .. you've pulled.

  • i'm definitely up for this. Count me in

  • Sounds fun. Why do we need a gear limit? Isn't that part of the fun / skill?

  • Count me in, sounds awesome. Any idea of when it's happening?

  • likewise I am well up for this :)

  • Yeah.. stick your gear limit!
If you want a gear limit go and ride the rollers.. this might be something my bigass legs could win :)

  • in for this,
    crack of dawn tt,
    drag sprints,
    tweed rides,

its like we're on a cycling forum or something.

    keep riding...

  • I've just bought a pink Rolls for these sprints - should I match it with my pink Toshis or should I use my white powder-coated SPD-SLs???

    Better, Corny? :)

  • This sounds epic. Every time I ride that lovely wide road on the north bank of the Serpentine I imagine drag racing down there - a possibile location if we get up at Dawn's crack.

  • Sounds good Gus. I'm keen.

  • I'd propose making this part of a series of events held over one day with a picnic lunch.

Drag Race, sprint equal or less than 1km.

Distance tt, 5 times anti-clockwise Regents inner circle.

Hill Sprint tt, less than 1km.
(Something short like Regents Park Road, left into Primrose Hill Road. Finish at the crest of the hill.)

All that could be done over the course of a few hours with plenty of vantage for spectators then retiring to the top of Primrose Hill for a picnic with a view.

The roads road there are dead quiet on a Sunday.

  • That sounds epic

  • sounds like fun! Won't be able to get far but worth a try just for the food. bbqftwkthxbai

  • Sounds good, i'm well up for a series, although personally as its all about the drag sprints...I would take out the distance tt, and just keep it to the two events, then maybe also its less daunting to people that aren't that fast over long distances, or people that aren't super fit but wanna have a go for a bit of fun?

  • A full day's action would be better suited to summer. It's cold standing around out there at the mo. Quick sprints, rapid turnover ftw!
