LARGO -- Belcher Road has reopened to traffic after a large utility truck collided with a bicycle near Fairway Boulevard and Belcher Road this morning.
Originally reported in critical condition at a local hospital, bicyclist Anthony Bell was recently upgraded to stable condition after the 7:49 a.m. accident.
Police said Bell, 46, of Largo was trying to cross Belcher Road when he stepped off a center median and into a northbound lane, where he was struck by a Ford F700 utility truck driven by Muris Masic, 47.
Witnesses told police that Bell had been stopped in the lane when he was struck. A police spokesman said in a statement Masic, 47, was not at fault and has not been cited with any violation. -

Forget all that bull, hippy, you can tell it's a Florida plate simply from the orange on the rego plate.

I've never been to Americaferryland so have no idea about their plates.
Shit, I don't even know how the Brit plate system works. -

Will look to check out the space the w/end after next- open to other suggestions for places where we could have a 'drag strip.'
Suggestions on how to make it more like a drag strip without the addition of petroleum products welcomed. Will look for some help with spokecards et al further down the line

Hey Gustav, I've been working on doing exactly the same thing as part of a three event series for the winter. I found an ideal place along the greenway, right by the new Olympic stadium. It's floodlit at night and well away from traffic, so there's very little danger. Very few people walk along there at night, so if you had someone at either end, you could make sure no peds got in the way.
Let me know if you want to talk more about it?

The finish line can be where the armed guards try and "bust a cap in yo ass" opposite the mosque :)

Good work Gus! I'd be well up for giving you a hand with this, so long as I could still compete.
Not so much racing in drag (although you'd be more than welcome to), as racing drag sprint style side by side. Figure this would make an interesting change from track time, TTs and longer rides.
There's a section of cycle path that runs along the Thames just to the East of the Dome which we cycled along on the Docklands ride (see linked map below for rough idea). We could set up side by side sprints along here with riders keeping to their respective sides of the track (no wheel sucking...) with timed runs (top times go through to the elimination rounds) and a checkered flag finish

Given that it's a bit out of the way, we might even be able to set up a sound system without drawing too much attention from the powers that be. Figure string up some bunting along the course and maybe even a bbq
