interestingly (from those stats) we have a 400% increase on new unique visits but the average time spent on site has dropped by 10%. i wonder what it sees as active time? if you leave the browser open but in the background is the connection still in place?

I've always wondered about the active time thing with google analytics as well.

I think the increase in unique visitors + drop in time spent is probably explained by the jump in lfgss.com in google search results for almost everything you can ever imagine wanting to search. When you're after specific information (rather than just browsing) you spend less time on each site.

But then... there's probably a load where it's +1 and then a comment.

Yes and no. The post numbers include all of the spam and stuff that gets deleted, so we have passed 500,000, but we do not actually have 500,000 posts.

The number on the front page is how many posts exist in the system.

It would be good to see how many posts contain the words:
