Still very much a fan, and still trawl the net for progressive stuff, but I do feel like the whole things expanded and burst a few years ago when it all hit the US. A bit like how dubstep was in the old Rinse.fm days before it was EDM'd to oblivion.
Anyway. These have been on repeat for a couple of days. Former has strong Calibre hints.

Hell yeah - Soul in Motion was a very similar vibe, even year I think... killer

This reminds me I need to dig out a load of old vinyl and cds - sudden hankering to listen to Axis, Omni Trio and such like. I'm shit at finding old stuff on the internets.

I was chatting with another forum member about this exact phenomenon not long ago. DnB lasted longer without being spoiled, and I wonder if that’s mainly down to the expansion of the Internet.
Anyway, I think DnB went downhill beyond 2001.
I preferred stuff like Ram Trilogy, Bad Company, Moving Fusion, Ed Rush & Optical, etc.

Ooof. Devastating. Love the tape saturation, the crappy reverbs and vocal sample reretritritrigggererersss. Listening whilst scanning negs and it’s keeping things fun.

:) great scanning music!
his other mixes are top notch too -

See, I come from a slightly later era so a little biased towards 2001 and a bit onwards, but still feel the same way. It all turned a bit formulaic through masses of production with little thought for what was being produced.
On of my best times was a year of being given free reign at ordering any Vinyl I wanted when working in HMV.

Are there any Spotify playlists people regularly listen to? Always seem to have mixed luck with DnB.
(soundcloud never works properly with my phone)

Hospital records podcasts might be a bit marmite but I like them. Few other podcasts around as well, v recordings and rinse FM have a few

Lovely man but by Jesus he waffles far too much. Haven't listened to that podcast in years.

Yeah he can get a bit much, but good background music and some gems in there

Not heard this for an age. Also loved Soul Beat Runner by Boymerang.

Nearly wore out this early Ed Rush 12" before Optical partnership anyhow.
Super stripped back with Wu-Tang sample: -

I've been back through some of my more more random YouTube favourites list that some people might enjoy. Aside from the first one, more on the techy/steppy/dark side than 'intelligent' , but I never really used that term.

Someone uploaded a mix of Inside The Machine which includes some of the earlier EP which I sometimes go to if I want something that’s solid from track to track rather than take a risk on a mix:

Forgot about this Ed Rush and Optical mix from 1998 which is excellent. It may be on YouTube too.

I had a Fabio mix from Metalheadz @ Blue Note some years ago, with Cleveland Watkiss MCing. I haven't been able to find it since, which is a big shame.
Csb
I downloaded it, so it's just hard to find

Sorry if you missed this.
To be fair Jim/Source Direct missed all but the last 20 minutes but on the positive side that meant Trace played for longer which is never a bad thing.

Enjoyed an LTJ set on Saturday.
I’ve not seen him play for about a decade but he’s good. The clean/cold sound (on a specialist dnb sound system) seemed made for him.
Champion Sound probably still got the biggest reaction but what can you do?

I've not listened to your mix yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
I'd like to add Krust, Soul in Motion https://g.co/kgs/1THr1U
And Doc Scott, Swarm https://g.co/kgs/twU7nb
