  • sweet, very nutty and malty, with enough bitterness to let you know it's not joking.

  • This is the first xmas in a few years that I've gone without one. Got a Liquid Confidence though so it's not all bad.

  • I asked the barman what was the smallest measure they could serve it in, and got a third, which I thought was a reasonable amount.

I was very merry when I got back to work...

  • Last shop until 2018 (yeah right) today. Highlights:

    Marble - Valancourt
    Buxton - Highland
Wylam & Hawkshead - Pleasure in the Darkness

Discovered I'd missed the stock of Jules Maek discussed above, sounds lovely.

  • Good for a couple of days. A 6.5% Magic Rock IPA in the growler

  • Today's tipples included Henley Dark porter from Lovibonds (so-so), Saucery IPA from Magic Rock (predictably good), and Torrside's Centennial Imperial Porter (bloomin' tasty).

I also picked up Siren's 'Please look after this beer' for Mrs L's stocking, and a couple of treats for myself...

  • Got some Stille Nacht waiting in the fridge and some salmon curing in Orval. Happy days.

  • Just checking through my photos, and realised I'd managed to blank this one from my mind. Advertising itself as a honey and mustard Weizen (or summat), it tasted like a homebrew kit before fermentation crossed with pickled gherkins.

  • Highlights of the Imperial Stouts so far have been Wild's Ramboozle & Magic Rock's Bearded Lady Dessert Edition.

Secret Santa at work came good again with a box of golden ales and a hobgoblin & glass, that's first week of tryanuary sorted.

  • Why the f**king cages at Brewdog Shepherds Bush?

  • You only have hippy as a customer once before you learn?

  • Yes, that was my initial theory.

  • dafuq? I've not been in since their renos. Looks more like their other branch.

  • I was in there before they opened to the public and that was 5 years ago. If its taken them this long to cage me in/out their observational skills are lacking.

  • I'm sure I only tried to glass you after we'd left, no?

  • I pulled out a pile of impy stouts for NYE and put most back. Can't be arsed transporting. Will probably buy a box of Carling.

  • You out-glassed me. You drank 4 for every glass I drank. #flightastic

  • Off to Magic Rock today 😁

  • Couple of days of and some Christmas money meant beershopping roadtrip through The Hague today. Sadly one of the shops I wanted to visit was closed, but the other three were open for our business. Bought mostly Dutch and Belgian beers, a Italian Trapist, Nanny state for my brother in law who doesn't drink anymore and some Dutch cider thingys 'cause the JD cider I had yesterday was nice. Must go to the first shop (J.P. Alsem) again, could've spent all my cash there and some. If you're in the neighbourhood hit them up. (Abt 12 for €1,80!)
