Ale, Beer, Stout appreciation

  • The Manchester Beer & Cider festival was great! Highlights probably the Cloudwater Brown Ale and Marble Stouter Stout. Lowlights, going to the bar and being told that the ones I had circled were "finished, finished, didn't turn up, finished, finished" and so on.

More love for Magic Rock: tried their American Brown Ale, The Stooge, and it was really good. Also like their Salty Kiss, although the name always makes ordering it a bit uncomfortable.

Just got back from a great trip in Germany which was one long weizen/dunkel fest.

Always likely at beer festivals! Was good, wonder where it'll be next year...

  • I got a can Lord Smog Fri night and it was lovely. Got another in for the future. The bottle at the till had gone, I was told that was barrel aged version and would've been worth a try too.

Been recommended Evil Twin Molotov Cocktail as another interesting strong one... will get on it sometime.

  • Went to WB open day and tried their Lemon thingie... very nice. Wasn't too thrilled with their Heaven Hill BA Heaven and Hell DIPA, I mean, it was nice enough but not super. Bought some bottles including a mint chocolate milk stout called A World Without Dave and increased my stash of Sadako.

  • Evil Twin Molotov Cocktail

Is fucking awesome. Had it in Copenhagen and again in maybe can form here.
There's also a Molotiv Lite in cans which is still banging around 8% I think.

  • ^ seconded

    Also Ashtray Heart

  • To Ol have bought out a leather growler holder for your bike

  • First Beavertown beer announced for their event - Double Chin - DIPA Neck Oil

  • Sorry, late to reply. Yes. It was great. That Safe Word beer tastes incredible.

  • How was the lemon beer? I wasn't sure about the sound of it.

  • Yeah, I've had that a few times - when they launched it at BDSB and I've bought a few bottles from my local.

  • I liked it. That means sod all for you but it was quite a refreshing brew, not too sour, just a little bitter. If I wasn't trying (badly) to lose weight I'd have had more of it and made an afternoon of it.

  • I'll give it a go. Just can't stomach too much acidic beer. Shame they had so little of the Chai Stout available.

  • I didn't see that on. I tried it in a bottle the other week and it reminded me of a yank pumpkin beer but in stout form. Pankot Palace?

  • That's the one. It didn't have a name yet, last time we were there.

Got some of the Decadence Stout and Double Perle while there too.

  • Here you go...

  • Just signed up to Hubbub. They don't seem to do Kernal though...

  • Not sure if that's due to a delivery area or the spelling. Searching 'Kernel' still comes up with a few for me

  • It depends on your area as to who the suppliers are

  • Ah yeah. Eventually found out how to change my delivery address. Hackney Road gives lots more options.

  • I got mine delivered to work, which they did deliver too as they were not available for where I live.

  • Yeah The Kernel wouldn't deliver to my workmates house in New Cross he is doing up but he could get them in his flat in Brixton.

  • Up in Birmingham for work, went to a cool cafe/grocery store for breakfast this morning and picked up a couple interesting beers from Sacre Brew who I had not heard of before. Not sure what my colleagues made if me buying 10% beer at 9 in the morning.

Got their Imperial Porter 8.1% and a Belgian that is 9.7%
They look to be doing some really interesting stuff.

  • Got my hubbub order. Ordered a bravertown can pack and Lord Smog was amongst them.

Got a burgundy barrel aged saison and a mosaic pale ale in the kernel order.

  • Here is the program for the Beavertown thing on Saturday. Very excited about the To Ol Jekyll & Hyde collabs.
