  • Well, I didn't think so but if someone else did, sorry. Removed.

  • Unlikely many folks will hit up Macclesfield but for those that do The Wharf is worth finding.

Guess which plonker thought they were selling honey though..?

  • P.s. it took great willpower to not straighten the errant bottles.

  • Bottle of Brew 900 by Marble for tonight. Reviews are love or hate...

  • Had a bottle of Lindeman's Kriek from 1987 in Kulminator last night. Was very nice and cheap at 7 euros. Pretty sure it would have cost me 3 times that at home.

Simon had a Westmalle from 2005.

  • Lindeman's Kriek from 1987

Does this stuff improve with age then? Used to drink it (fresh bottles) in the early 00'ties - might have missed a trick not keeping some.

  • Yeah gets much better with age. The wild yeasts take longer to develop.

  • Ta. Guessing it needs storing carefully like wine, if to be done properly?

  • Yep :)

Have started my beer celler, got a few to add to it today

  • ^ ace. Much willpower needed for many years!

  • I'm pretty good at forgetting I have things when they are hidden away.

The Leffe is made with Cascade, anyone had this?

  • Nice. I've been pretty good with my stored beers. Mostly big stouts though, so god 'elp us when it's Christmas time.. .

  • Who? Who the hell likes that range of beers called "Berliner Weisse"!!??

I've given them multiple chances, but I still can't like/appreciate their lemony taste!

In particular I am talking about Calypso from Siren Brewery.

  • Managed to find some Traquair House Ale in a Waitrose in Edinburgh. Absolutely great.

  • What was the Brew 900 like? I have always been tempted, but the price/mixed reviews put me off.

I had Thornbridge's Brock on Friday. It was decent, but not really anything more than that.

  • Best three beers I've had recently:

    Mikkeller Peter, Pale & Mary
    Mikkeller American Dream
    Beavertown Quelle Saison

Anyone know of a similar beer I should try?

  • Burning Sky's a la Provision Saison and Weird Beard's Saison 14

  • What was the Brew 900 like?

I enjoyed it, not sure it lived up to price (fiver) but it was a pleasant enough 9%er without the Special Brew afterburn that sometimes spoils stronger ales. I tried to avoid the sediment but chucking it all in may make it a different experience?

  • Ace. I'll look out for both of those

  • So. Tomorrow I'm off to Indy Man Beer Con to sup some nice beer.

I also have the post-festival beers sorted.

  • I am jealous. I stupidly tried to organize a big day out, and people faffed around with getting back to me. Next year I'm just going to buy the tickets.

There are other things going on though, which I might get involved in:

"Before the festivities kick off, Port Street Beer House will have a takeover from the five breweries involved in New Zealand Beer Collective on Wednesday October 7. This is followed by Howling Hops taking over the taps at The Font’s outlets in the city centre and Chorlton on Thursday October 8. Font’s city centre branch will also be hosting an IMBC afterparty til 2am on the Thursday evening, and Brewdog will also be getting involved with two tap takeovers – Brew By Numbers on Friday October 9 and Weird Beard on Monday October 12.

Fresh from our visit down to Beer Nouveau’s new pad for our last edition, they’ll be opening their brew tap for the first time this weekend. Doors will be open from 12-10pm on both Saturday and Sunday and they’re aiming to open one weekend a month at first before introducing longer opening hours."
