Does sound a bit shitty behaviour on their part. The market had a beer stall last time I went, same people?

They got it sorted in the end, the guy that owns it is also head of the levy traders association and put in a last minute objection when the market tried to go from temporary licences to a permanent one, knowing there wasn't enough time left to get another temporary one or get a permanent one sorted with objections, meant they couldn't do music or off sales of alcohol either, so a couple of small local traders missed out on one of their busier trading days. I think there were some licencing hearings and they are now sorted. Was a dick move though and puts me off giving the guy money, also the other pubs he runs are shite.

What's Levenshulme like these days?
I left Stockport about six years ago and always thought it had potential to be an interesting area which might attract some decent pubs/shops/creative types. Maybe a less wanky Chorlton. Is That Cafe still going? Had some good meals in there.

a less wanky Chorlton.
Lolz!

It's the next Chorlton don't you know? Levy is alright, I've been here nearly 10 years and it's getting gentrified and a bit more middle class, thankfully it's still quite rough around the edges and there's a nice mix of people and reprobates. We had a day last month with a dead woman in a park and a stabbing and house invasion all on the same night, good times.

Stockport is fucking dreadful these days BTW. Used to be a good night out approx 10 years ago, awful now bar one or 2 pubs.
-
• #3058
There are still a few good pubs around the edges, the middle is full of nobs.

My sister still lives there. There's nothing there. People seem to just head into town.
Always liked the Crown under the viaduct. Navigation does great ales from Beartown but can get rough. Soft spot for the Blossoms on the A6 too. Not bad for a Robinsons pub.

Been to a few of the Irish pubs on the A6. Some proper characters like the man who has got his whole face tattoed blue.

I've recently moved to Levy and I really like it. The market was great today and I am looking forward to the Ale house opening up.

It was a bit flat and didn't seem as nice as I recall other smokey beers being.

Brasserie du Bocq has some great beers on offer (their blanche du namur won a gold recently and the rose version is very nice - not sickly sweet or too tart like I find a lot of fruit beers). A lot aren't available properly in the UK yet but they're working on that.
Yeah, I'll probably pop in and have a look when it's done, just a shame they feel the need to be so aggressive about being the only booze purveyor in town, to the point of objecting to licences for market vendors and stuff.
