  • I would've enjoyed this more last night if my teeth weren't such Putins.

  • Not sure what’s going on at BBNo, all those discount codes don’t fill me with hope. Got offered another one when the purchase went through. Ask pizza express how hard it is to ween your customers off discount vouchers

  • Dropped by Solvay Society yesterday - for a half - left an hour later utterly wankered … such nice beer …. !
Their collaboration Belgian ipa ,with Heist brewery was one of the nicest tasting beers I’ve had in a long time.

  • Weds afternoon session

  • Cheeky afternoon catch up with a friend I've not seen for a while.

  • Very very picky on porters and stouts but this one is pretty good. Can’t vouch for the effect of the cbd, suspect it will be imperceptible.

  • meant to drop a Guinness last night in a liquid celebration of my heritage.

but got distracted by a different rather delicious stout that was on cask in one of my locals. Cinder Toffee Stout by New Bristol Brewery. only took one pint but savoured every drop

  • Had a wander round the breweries up near Blackhorse Lane today. A good set of breweries now, nothing too busy, nice to sit out in the sun.

  • Am I feeling chill because of the cbd or simply because it’s 10%?

  • Any recommendations for mead?

Fancy giving it a whirl (buying, not making)

  • I'm not a mead drinker but my friend loves the stuff that Gosnells in Peckham do

    https://www.gosnells.co.uk/

There's the classic Lindisfarne Mead too

    https://www.lindisfarne.org.uk/mead/

  • There's a lovely welsh meadery called Afon Mel

    https://www.afonmel.com/mead/

  • My mate's in there all the time. I really need to visit.

  • Still amazing

"A couple of weeks ago a kind man called Martin popped into The Dodo Micropub on a Saturday afternoon. He donated these 3 very rare and vintage beers. I guess in the hope that through our love of beer and strong beer loving community, we would be able to get them in front of the right people who may want to purchase them.

They were a gift to be used for fundraising purposes for those affected by the war in Ukraine. It was his way of wanting to somehow help the people of Ukraine. So here we are really just acting on Martin's behalf and hopefully doing his kind donation justice.

One person will win this trio of vintage & rare beers. I have had them valuated by several experts in beer and the collective value is a minimum of £45 up to £100. I accidentally brought a £150 bottle of beer to a bottle share once that wasn't anywhere near as vintage as these so in the right settings and with even more aging I'm certain they will only continue to appreciate in value.

Vintage & Rare Beer From Lost Breweries Raffle

Fremlins - Elephant Ale - A last brew from Fremlins Brewery, Favershams, Kent. Dated 3rd May 1990.

Thomas Hardy's Ale - Bottle E - 59. Bottled and brewed by Eldridge Pope & Co Ltd, Dorset. Dated December 1975. On the back of the bottle the label bares the instructions "DO NOT OPEN BEFORE 1981".

This one in particular is an incredibly rare bottle of beer! Rare in general due to it's vintage but the serial number of E-59 is incredibly low. This alone is an incredible beer up for grabs. You won't find it anywhere else particularly easily!

Tennants Lament - Extra Strong Special Ale from Exchange Brewery, Sheffield. This beer was brewed to mark the end of Whitbread's brewing activities on the site in 1993.

To enter you just need to donate. I would suggest a minimum of £5 given the collective value of the beer on offer but any amount big or small is great. You can donate multiple times and they will count as separate entries. The raffle will close on the 31st March and a winner will be selected at random."

  • Been enjoying a few nice beers here in NY - this has probably been the best yet

  • Pre-covid I used to have quite a few 2-3 week spells in the US.

I'd start off excitedly drinking all this novel, super-hopped, extra-strong beer and end craving a pint of bitter.

  • Looking forward to trying this
