Went to the huge 24hr Tesco Extra with high hopes. They only had Session IPA & Pale. The session is nice, bit warm still though. They're going against the "store cold" memo by keeping it on the regular shelves.
Edit: the Pale is drinkable too. Basically the Session turned down a %.

Really don't get the idea that breweries 'sell out' when they go on supermarket shelves.
It's a business, you start it to make money, bigger market placement means more cash.
How would you ever get bank loans/private backer cash if you said 'I'd like the business to get to X size and stay there'.

I'm completely with you with this, it's so stupid. If a brewery gets taken over and starts making the beer shit then that's a reason to kick off but making good beer as widely available as possible is surely only a good thing?
I don't see the trappists getting the same stick for making their beer available in pretty much every supermarket in France and Belgium.

God is obviously an investor.

• #10257
Not sure that’s a good example, Trappist beer is supposed to be non profit iirc

The profits go straight back to the monastery. That then allows them to do God's Work.

Even when the brewery co-founder is allegedly on record as saying it would never happen?

Discovered a taproom in a bus yesterday (seems it's Earth Brewery's tap). About ten beers on tap and plenty of cans. I didn't get to try much but what they had looked interesting

I'm glad it's back open. It's a board game pub on the top deck usually, I miss it, lots of good beer and all local people. The bottle shop next door always has some niche beer and the guy who runs it always seems to know how stuff.

He can't be 'allegedly on record'. Either there is written or audio proof he said it or not.
Anyway, I don't care.

“We’ve never made a beer for supermarkets and we never would.”
Session good too
