  • List, then:

    1. Oliver Schick
    2. mmccarthy
    3. Guerillaphoto
    4. nosferatu
    5. STe5

(Leave it in quote marks so that we don't get it mixed up with the regular ride list.)

added myself and ste5 to the recce list as i wudnt mind doing this in the daytime too

  • I'm good for the recce to, but can't figure out how to quote the list.

Copy and paste. You can't quote quotes.

  • OK, I've decided to do a daytime route recce on Sunday the 1st February. I'll be leaving from Hyde Park Corner at 10am. The weather forecast, it has to be said, is pretty shite, but as I haven't ridden the route before I'd better become acquainted with it. Let me know if you'd like to join me on the recce run. m-xl has tentatively indicated that he might be up for it. This should take about 4-5 hours, I guess, but could be longer depending on how badly we get lost. :)

I'll be up for it depending on the weather. I won't do it unless it's tipping it down. I mean, if it's tipping it down.

  • up for it, depending on knee condition.

Doing it on a geared bike, though, if at all

  • yeah i'll be up for the recce if i get to london the night before. i'll let youse know, oliver

  • otherwise u can get the train with me in the morning

Great, guys, get on the right lists! :)

Nhatt, I'm doing it geared, too, BTW.

  • Would I be frowned upon turning up on a geared bike. I'm not sure my s/s will be ready in time, waiting on a couple of parts.

  • will it be hard on fixed im hearing all these women saying there gonna do it geared?

No, quite a few of us will be doing it geared. Just add your name to the list!

  • will it be hard on fixed im hearing all these women saying there gonna do it geared?

As far as I know, I'm the only woman who is going to do it geared.

I did this ride a few weeks ago, this is not something I would even consider doing fixed, and I ride quite a few miles every day.

It just wouldn't be fun. There are so many hills that I was starting to lose my sense of humour on my geared bike...

my 2 pesos, take it or leave it.

  • my 2 pesos, take it or leave it.

Under current exchange rates that's quite alot.

To counter Nhattattck's comment I'd say I've done it fixed before, II did not find it too bad other that Ditchling, where I was began to bonk after not enough food, but that was my own fault. As with everything what I like you may not.

I'm up for this too as I like a overnighter. We need a Brigton local to show us to a nice early morning / all night cafe when we arrive for a nice breakfast.

  • Any Idea how many bikes are aloud on the train home at once?

single train fare from brighton to london £8.85 with railcard or £10 without

  • Alot of luck is involved in how busy the train is how happy the ticket man is e.t.c

  • I'm still ummin and aahin about this. I do like a good beat around the bush.

anyone else working all day saturday? I work in a pushbike shop so I'll be on my feet all day and I'm also running a slicked up MTB so I don't want to hold anyone up!

  • Its a long ride for sure, but not massive.
The last time I did it I did it geared and alone, and found it much harder than in a group fixed (for obvious reasons).
I'm not sure what I'll be on, but atm just praying that I'll be able to make it at all.

  • I will be fixed, hope i am not the only one, and I hope those with gears are not arseholes and leave us behind.

  • ill be fixed but i need good lights i aint even got any

  • I will be fixed, hope i am not the only one, and I hope those with gears are not arseholes and leave us behind.

Fixed or geared, we won't leave anyone behind. This ride is only about 50 miles and that gives us ample time to wait in case people have mechanicals etc.

The only thing I'm still waiting for is a volunteer for backstop. This is an essential job. Anyone?

Also, just not to get mixed up with which ride everybody is doing, could you please indicate clearly which one you want to go on by tracking down the appropriate list upthread and putting your name on it:

    (1) OVERNIGHT to Brighton: Saturday 7th February 2009, 10pm Hyde Park Corner.

    (2) DAYTIME RECCE (NB this is explicitly a recce for the nighttime ride, which means that we might explore some different routes to Brighton along the way.): Sunday 1st February 20009, 10am Hyde Park Corner.

Please indicate clearly which list it is that you're posting, e.g. 'Overnight list' or 'Recce list'.
