Guys, this isn't going to be a race. If we have to wait, then so be it. As I said before, we'll wait for everyone, and ideally we'll choose such a pace that people won't get dropped in the first place. I'll certainly try to take care of that at the front.

Can you go back to sleep for another hour or two, Henry? Or how long does it take you to come from Oxford? I can recommend some daytime sleep now. Have some pasta now, take some energy bars and some savouries, and you should be fine. It is honestly not a massively long distance, and I have no doubt that you should be fine.

  • yup, getting some kip now. I've been in the library all day (Wellcome trust is amazing)
then rebuilt my bike, stashed the one i bought of skullhead, and rode back to the library.
now I'm going to use the gfs sofa, and sleep.
    see you all at 10.
anyone particularly hate soreen malt loaf? is it vegan? she lives next to a tesco's....

    9. owenreed
    10. Dropout
    11. kx.001

11 excellent riders, great group size.

Lots of stopping owing to punctures, hence a long time taken, but good fun all round. 50/14 punctured twice, I pinch-flatted once after hitting a pothole at speed.

Stop at Gatwick, where we managed to lose Harry's pump.

Ditchling Beacon hit without great drama, Dropout was King of the Mountain and would have received some polka dot Brighton Rock if only anything had been open.

I make it about 63 miles.

    Nice one, guys!

  • fuck is this tomorrow? what time is departure? i might not have recovered enough in time.

No, the run's been run. Next time!

  • WELL DONE EVERYBODY!!

  • was really good fun, nice to meet people etc.

    I'm going to bed.

  • Well done Oliver and Crispin for being absolutely excellent minders of a pretty motley crew, with the widest range of bikes I've ever seen on one small ride! Mick and Rodrigo I owe you a tube each, and thanks to all who helped repair my silly wheels. Next time will a) increase front light power, and b) have 23" tyres instead of TT 19s. A much enjoyed pleasure.

  • Mick took the ride very seriously, Sprinted with no fear into the unknown, and brought an extra T shirt, although delighted to add he didn't use it!
