Yeah i ride the plastic ones, umm i think there odyssey and there purple, can attach cages and straps to em or power strap things and never had pedal strike with em
-
• #3
Yeah go plastic, its what a lot of the bmxers are doing too.
Less weight, cheap, nice colours, less injury

I'll probably run the side with clips with no pins... and pins on the flip-side.
As far as I know plastic = fixed pins.

In the US in March, and supposedly designed for 700c fixed... but what about clips / straps?

the guy who runs snafu is a bit of a retard so no doubt he has forgotten something essential like that. they were never a great bmx company despite having Dave Mirra on their team. To be honest i think it's just their attempt to jump on the bandwagon with Volume. Go with twisted pc and powergrips.

How to you get powergrips onto BMX pedals? There are no holes to bolt them on?

Animal Hamolten Pedels. I run them on my BMX and they are awsome. I think you can get plastic ones as well now.
-

I was thinking of these, they're homemade ones on the odyssey pcs. I believe they are Object's/
also: http://www.geocities.jp/good4u/power_grips.html
some bmx pedals such as cheap wellgos do have holes on the front, where the reflectors usually go.
maybe you could get longer clips and attach them to the inside of the pedals, or maybe regular power grips would fit.

thats the sort of set up I'm after. Running DMR V8's and want to attach some sort of powergrip type of strap like the ones Object has....

Neek over at Edinburgh Fixed Gear has made himself some home made powerstraps for his BMX pedals, also gives a little walk through. You have to click enter site, its the top entry

those archie's ones are stunning tho. I imagine it's the same material as bag straps. Is there anywhere you can get car seatbelts as I figure they may be pretty strong for home made powergrips. Maybe this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Carpoint-seat-belt-Extension-60cm-car-seatbelt-extender_W0QQitemZ230318554276QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item230318554276&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 cut up and folded over in half? Would be good to make doubilizers too I think

do not, I repeat, do not by welgo MG-1's.
They are some of the most fragile pedals out there, I missed a wallride on my old bmx once clipped a pedal, and the whole thing shattered into several pieces, my odyssey jc's took loads of punishment from pedal grinds crank stalls etc and kept coming back for more, gusset slimjims are also really good, but welgo MG-1's would probably break if you breathed on them.. -

I'm thinking of trying some bmx platform pedals on my bike* (it's a fixed steel framed track bike)*.
In the past I've tried MKS Sylvans and MKS GR-9s *(which I quite liked). *I'm currently using Specialized track pedals with double straps and metal cages, with the straps threaded through the pedals like below...
Do the straps feel ok like that? It looks a bit wierd

Might invest in some belt-age!
Like the look of the plastic pedals. Think ttiem on here has some on his new volume bike.

i've had a few pairs, i think they are good value for money, especially for a beater/polo bike -

I'm currently making some straps to go on a pair of Slim Jims, will post pics later...
-
• #19
I don't think I can do it with my DMR V8's as they don't have a bolt / toe clip hole for attaching them. Although Slim Jims are pretty similar... Any thoughts people ?

I used to use BMX Pedals with toe clips, really nice and handy to get in and out of but you'll want double straps as I found they're harder to get a good grip into...

I doubt it suppose to be like that, normally both the strap go through the two hole in the pedal, as oppose to just the one as the photo shown.
This how it should look (minus the twist, not sure how useful that is)

You can't do ^that^ with RX-1s though.
RX-1s and many other pedals (including Sylvans like those above) have 2 holes on the rear plate. These are there to run doubles straps though.

The difference is it's a little trickier to get in...
...but once your in it's more snug, and you pull more with your feet/less with your toes. -

^^Expensive and only abailable in US ftl..

This pedal setup feels good and secure once your in. What i'm not so keen on is that I can't comfortably ride the bottom of the pedals when mucking about at low speed, plus any jumping isn't nice in soft soled Vans shoes.
I'd like to hear from anyone who's already riding bmx platform pedals with clips and/or straps. Do you have a nightmare with pedal strike (I'm running 165 cranks)?
These magnesium Wellgo MG-1s seem good for £30ish.
Maybe I'll carve some up like these!
