Anyone have a quick guestimate for how much I could cobble together a sram 2x10 group second hand?

I can give you a pair of 8 speed Shimano thumb shifters and the adapters to mount on a flat bar. Basically, these.

Then run any old 2 speed crank and the cheapest 8/9/10 speed wheels you can find

So going lower than sora on the new bike now?

sora is where I draw the line, unless another brexit happens, then Claris.

@hoops if 1x10, swapping the rd and shifter to zee will add clutch mech on a similar price point.

Finally gave in to the temptation that is Dura Ace 9100. Surprised it took so long, to be honest.

Waiting for some reviews of the power meter. It's not too expensive and I can't see Shimano fucking it up but concerned re the completely sealed units. LBS tells me it will have to go back to Shimano for battery issues.

Based on Di2 battery reliability, seems unlikely to be a big problem.

5800 has gone from £300 to £400. That's insane. Anyone in the trade know why other than Brexit?

I wish Claris R2000 was out when I bought Sora, its tasty.

Got the new Tiagra and I like it very much. It's basically 6700.

Does seem a big jump but I actually think 400 for a groupset is still fairly reasonable.

Makes SRAM Rival at £330 seem pretty good value now. Shame it's so ugly

10 speed rival rear mech and any Sram mtb 10 speed trigger, narrow wide. Can have the three for £50 probably through eBay.

I hired a bike with (I think it was) Tiagra, ergonomically it was like using Ultegra, but the brakes were woeful in terms of absolute stopping power. I did notice that I ran out of gears before I wanted too - that extra sprocket would have been good to have.

Just when the new Tiagra was starting to look cool

Better that than Sora.

Sora is just neither here nor there, might as well go Tiagra for better sharper shifting, or Claris for similar shifting to Sora.
