Is there a 10 speed rear derailleur, compatible with my sram red YAW era shifters, that will let me run a larger than 32t cassette?

There was/is a 10 speed version; missus has it on her bike paired with Apex 10 speed.
This will work too: http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=129030;menu=1000,2,111;page=2
Or this if you want an 'upgrade': http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=132613;menu=1000,4,39 The longer version of these will go upto 42t.

Late to the party but very excited about that Sora - that shape shifter much better for people with small hands.

I agree but recommend Tiagra as ten speed are a good all-round gears.
I have build up a bike with Tiagra and decent cableset, it felt so much better than the old 10spd 105.

4700 is all about OEM. Retail pricing of 5800 and 4700 isnt miles apart.
It is nice though; a friend of mine said exactly the same thing as he used to ride a 10 speed 5700 and now rides 4700.

But is it DA?

• #4938
Agreed - will be watching the Sora price (vs Tiagra) with interest. Ideally I'd be cheap and just replace the old style Sora shifters on my partner's bike with the new ones, but I suspect the cable pull will be different meaning I can't, which makes a full upgrade to new Tiagra more appealing.

Sorry I missed the 'larger than' bit.
Larger than 32t? Just get off and walk mate..
-
• #4940
You can't replace the old Sora as you correctly assumed that the cable pull is different.
I'm gonna look into it if it's the same throughout the range.

Er, potentially stupid question.
How speed specific are chainsets?
Specific example - partner's bike is currently 9 speed. Considering adding the nice new Tiagra 10 speed kit. Could I just change shifters/cassette/derraileurs and leave the chainset as is?
Or are the chainrings thinner to account for the thinner chain?

great link!

How speed specific are chainsets?>
Generally not very. You should be able to run most on any combination. 8-11 should all be mix and match.

Good answers - what I wanted to hear. Saves replacing chainset which would also have required a bottom bracket change.
And yes, lovely link!
