11spd 105 is brilliant for £300. Mines been faultless.
I put a few 1000 miles on it in a short period and didn't need to adjust anything once.

^^Total bollocks.
I've got three bikes with 11 speed, two of those are Di2, one is latest generation cabled Ultegra.
There is a difference - but it's really only noticeable at the front.
ABC news does not know what they are talking about, and can be safely ignored.

ABC News is also a sexist prick, another reason to ignore them.

So surely if they can do 2.35mm, 2.11mm isn't too much of a stretch? the difference between 10 speed and 11 speed is a big one, not because of the extra cog, but the quality in shifting, braking etc. as you'd expect from a next generation groupset, 5800 for £300 is a bargain and I'm fairly sure if you wait for a code or two at probikekit you could get it for £270ish

I've not heard a single 11sp Shimano/Sram owner mention issues with getting or keeping the bike in gear. Have you got stretching cables, sand in your
vaginashifter or something? As far as other features in the 105 line, there are minute differences but not something I would consider upgrading over unless you're already deciding on a new bike. There are minute differences in shifter ergonimcs. The crank uses a revolutionary 4 arm configuration rather then conventional.
The braking and front shifting feels better to me than the 700 series.
I'm not sure the new cranks are exactly "revolutionary...rather than conventional". If it's on 105 it is the new conventional. It does mean all rings are available to everyone (going forward) which is nice.

I assume your lack of response to me is a tacit acceptance that you are a sexist prick.

Proper troll that one ^
105 5800 is great value.

My touring bike have 11 speed.

• #3660
Okay, that bit is true, but by your own admission now, the quality has increased and the problems are next to extinct. So why bother getting a 10 speed 105 groupset for £350 when you can get a better one for less? (assuming the: if you want 11 speed go with electronic argument)
And if you do want 11 is the difference between mechanical and electronic worth £700?! There's only a few applications where I see that being worth it

Not strictly true .. the quality of the cables were upgraded to reduce friction. But Shimano also altered the mechanical road 11-speed cable stroke over previous versions, so it has a longer cable pull per millimeter of derailleur movement to further negate friction drag on the cables .. lessons learnt from rushing 10 speed under bar tape shifting to market. Although they still needed to stealth upgrade Dura Ace 9000 shifters after the event.

@Dammit. You dumb-ass the OP asked about 105, namely the difference between 10-speed 105 and 11-speed 105 in case you forgot. Not Di2. Not Ultegra.
Ah, ok - my mistake, I thought that there might be some commonality between Shimano groupsets, I didn't realise that they had absolutely nothing to do with one another in any way, and that experience of one was meaningless in terms of what another might do.
Thank goodness for helpful souls such as yourself who are here to put us all right.

Edwardz was credible though
However I look forward to more posts from abcnews - such insight delivered with persuasive sugar coated wit. Wow.

EdwardZ has "views" for sure, but he's not a total fucking cretin like ABCnews.

A Bike Cunt is more like Tree Trunk.

Every time I build a bike with 5800 on it, my eyesight improves and coffee tastes better. Do not doubt the Shimano. Believe in the Shimano.

You must get it alot.

(This is me calling your attention to a grammatical error you have made, by way of a very funny and well observed blog, which might make you a very slightly better person if you bother to read it. However, you are such a fucking moron I doubt you have the capacity to read the whole thing, so it might be wasted. Still, if you did read it, do you feel less like of an emotionally stunted, belligerent cunt now?)

Is that your stock response when your ignorance has been pointed out?

well that escalated quickly.

I've been running 11 speed set ups for over 5 years now, all mechanical, and apart from one or two minor niggles, all have been flawless.
