Heard it here first...

So sumo, did you buy a complete bike with 105 or did you buy the group?
It came on the bike. I wouldn't have chosen Shimano otherwise. Although I hadn't used one of the modern groupsets for any more than 5 minutes that at least I have the knowledge now.

Whilst he's open to suggestion let's try a few more
andyp, aren't titanium bikes rubbish, and Italian bikes. Especially Italian titanium bikes.
-
• #3555
Lol. Doesn't Andy race on Taiwanese plastic with a fishing tackle group now anyway?
-
• #3556
Taiwanese aluminium I'll have you know.
-
• #3557
It's too big for you.
-
• #3558
How can you possibly ride alu for cross? It's much too harsh. Have you learned nothing here?
-
• #3559
When you're riding around or above FTP for 50 minutes, bouncing around like a monkey on a jackhammer, you don't tend to notice how comfortable your bike is.
-
• #3560
that was a joke.
-
• #3561
Do I have to winkyman everything here ffs
-
• #3562
I know. But I liked the monkey on a jackhammer phrase so ran with it.
-
• #3563
Fair play
-
• #3564
Maybe some larger tyres at lower pressure Andy? I'm sure you've never thought of that so my suggesting it will be a revelation.
-
• #3565
inb4scoble
-
• #3566
have you considered wide rims?
-
• #3567
Something like ZTR ironcross would be perfect .. wide and made to run lower pressure
-
• #3568
Thanks everyone. Next season I shall race cross on a Shimano equipped fat bike, they'll be no stopping me!
-
• #3569
you can borrow mine, given you have the physique of a twiglet you'd be able to have sub 10psi tyres.
-
• #3570
It's not that I can't reach, I just have to move my fingers further down the lever to brake quickly than I do on my Sram levers. The fact they are fat and wide and completely smooth just makes it a bit more awkward.
Cheers. I was wondering if it was just me who felt that way. Sumo speaks the truth.
Is there a way to upgrade by buying shifters/levers from a posher groupset and keep the rest of the 105 stuff? -
• #3571
Yes. Just buy some Ultegra or Dura Ace ones.
-
• #3572
Is that going to help? Are they not all the same shape, with the same pivot point?
-
• #3573
I haz ultegra 6800 for sale if you want? pm me, cables make big difference too
-
• #3574
105 5800 + Shimano Carbon Pedals for £325 ar Merlin. Much tempted.
-
• #3575
Do it. Ignore these posh tarts, with odd shaped hands. 105 is just fine.
That may happen.
