Anyone know where I can get some GP4000s?
-
• #3137
No, seriously though, 11 speed DA.. can I mix the 2-cog and 3-cog bits on here?
So, say an 11-19 with the climbing bailout of 25-28T on the end?
Assuming the derailler is cool the actual cassette bits are the same, right?
Will the jumps feel horrible?
-
• #3138
Once you've adjusted the B-Tension to cope with the 25/28 pair, your shifting is going to get steadily worse as you climb from the 11 to the 19. I thought all the cool kids [at the ProTour level] were just sticking the 11-28 on and leaving it there for pretty much everything now.

Worse than what though? It's already very quick. Hmm

Why?

• #3143
The jumps won't feel horrible once your in the gear if you need that gear.
Better to undergear and spin than over gear and grind.Grinding will fatigue muscles.
Try riding with your home made 11-28 and then a standard 11-28 and see which you prefer. Simples!

Worse than it would be with a stock cassette. Compared with a friction shifter and a 6-speed Regina freewheel/bushed chain from the 1980s, it's going to feel miraculously precise.

Why?
It was a joke. Jokes are no good when you have to explain them.
Does that mean it wasn't actually a joke? Hmm... -

I guess I'm just worried about it missing the sweet spot around 16T.

You could mix an 11-23:
11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,21,23With a 12-29:
12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,23,26,29To create you 11-29:
11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,23,26,29Or buy an OTP Shimano 11-28:
11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25-28But you don't get your 16.

The 12-27 includes- 12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,23,25,27
The 12-29 includes- 12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,23,26,29Here is the reason why Nibbles is winning the tour then?
Or would he be using 11-25 includes- 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,23,25?
Shimano.
