Q:
Will a SRAM Red Exogram 2 x 10 speed crankset play nice with an Shimano Ultegra 6700 front derailleur, or do I need the new Red front derailleur with "YAW"?

The nice thing about the Road.cc article on this is that it name checks the Syncho groupset, which is what I talked about a while ago without knowing what it was called.

My buddy wants to put a modern groupset on his 90s bob jackson, what's the best value out there at the mo?
Any potential pitfalls to be aware of?
-
• #3033
2 pitfalls are either SRAM or Campagnolo.

The top sprocket can sometimes foul the chainstay: depends on what size it is and the shape of the stay. Can usually be spaced out ok.

5800 is slightly cheaper than 5700 according to Madison, great value.

Hi
I require some advice on groupset choice for a project :I am building up a new roadbike with a Time First carbon frame, with bb86.
I am currently running an ultegra 6800 compact 34/50 groupset on my current bike and get along well with it, i have a battered veloce on my commute and like it less.
Any experience or advice would be helpful as i have never tried sram nor anything
higher than veloce with campagnolo, so not sure i dislike campagnolo as a whole...obviously looks are also important given the clear coating of the frame

Hello. Could I have some hoods for Shimano ST 5510 levers please?

Shimano.^^^
For that frameset I'd say something like Ultegra 6800 or DA 9000. That's just my opinion. Depends on your budget.

Ultegra, Ultegra and Ultegra.

Given current prices, Ultegra 6800. Overall, I much prefer Force to Ultegra, but even I'd have to admit it's not worth the premium at current prices.
Although with Force 22 for 584 at Merlin, I would be tempted by that...

thanks for the feedback, ultegra consensus... i agree but just fancied a change
i was gonna say force 22 seems like a good option all things considered, but the graphics are so bad, that only leaves sram red as an overly expensive contender.
anybody with experience with chorus or athena ? -

Dammit (on here) just got a chorus cassette if you consider that as experience; maybe PM him ..

anybody with experience with chorus or athena ?what? Really?
Force 22 is probably the best looking groupset that isn't DA9000

Looks wise, I've got Force 2010 (I think) which I actually prefer to Force 22. Maybe you could get one of these at a good price?? Might be worth a test ride with SRAM if possible, because it feels very different from Shimano, both in the hood/lever shape and the mechanics of the shifting.

I went from old campag to sram red to new athena.
Pretty pleased with how it's working. Shifting seems te be a bit more 'continuous' than with Red, but it's definitely not a turnoff. And I have to say that especially the looks of the new campagnolo groups have grown on me.

Dude just go to a big bike shop and try out all the road bike with SRAM, Campag and Shimano.
