Oh yeah, UTFS.

FWIW I just went from Ultegra to Chorus 11 and I couldn't be happier. Feels much more clinical than Shimano which at times felt a bit 'analog'. Took a couple of days to get used to the hood shape but prefer it now.

i bet there are more campag users with audiophile valve amps then shimano owners though...

hahaha granted. Real home cinema enthusiast turnout

I have some 2010 SR stuff on my desk now. Its soooo fecking nice. Who cares how well it shifts, or brakes. It feels and looks gorgeous.
-
• #132
I have no fecking idea what a audio valve is though. Is it something to do your tyres squeaking?
-
• #133
SRAM is noisy as a mother fucker.

Campag 10 speed carbon record. It's the nuts. Really, not the newest group around and I wasn't convinced by the thumb shift initially - but after a couple of long rides I was loving it.
Basically I'm of the opinion that all modern groupsets are good - it just depends on how much money you have and what you're used to.
Unless you're in a high pressure race environment I don't think it really matters

I have Athena 11 and am very happy with it, i like the braking especially, I have not used SRAM before & Ultegra was my last group.
I want a valve amp *sob

SRAM is noisy as a mother fucker.
Does it contain these audio valve amps?
Also with campag you change a dick load of gears at the same time. In fact with it now going to 11 too. Its the ultimate dick waving grouppo.

I have most of a 7800 groupset sitting around - cranks (full size not compact but also have an ultegra compact), front mech (band on though size forgotten), brake calipers and sti's (you need to supply rear mech and possibly a front mech to fit)
-
• #139
Your front mech is 31.8

Shimano cranks are ugly beyond belief and the shifters used to look like erect dog penis' with cables coming out the side. That apart it's fine.
SRAM is partly owned by Lance Armstrong so can fuck right off as far as I'm concerned (along with Trek and Nike).
Campag Chorus has served me well for 20 years and is fucking brilliant.
I love a good, reasoned debate.

I hate noise, this could be a deal breaker.Gav

Orly?
This could work. Condition? Photograph? How much cost? pm me.

I have Chorus 10sp and like it very much.
Good:
- Thumb-shifters. Each control on the ergopower only does one thing. So the engagement is positive and solid. I never much cared for the sideways movement of STI levers when braking. They're easy to reach from the drops.
- Being able to shift a pile of gears at once.
- Front derailleur trim. Works perfectly. Maybe the others do too, but.
- 13-28 cassettes for fat bastards.
- Shifting is positive and quick.
Bad:
- Wheel compatibility and the lack thereof
- Campag chains are horrid. Straight to KMC.
- Doesn't like being gunged up - the shifting becomes a bit sticky
- Skeleton brakes look great but are a pain to clean
Interesting:
Zinn reckons that you can drive SRAM derailleurs/cassettes with 10sp Ergopowers as the amount of cable pull is similar. I might give this a go. - Thumb-shifters. Did'nt realise Armstrong had his teeth into the whole SRAM, Rockshox, Avid group.
Next reasoned debate: My favourate colour is green. This, I think you'll find, is the best colour. But I'd be interested to hear what colours you guy prefer.

Shimano cranks are awesome beyond belief and the shifters used with cables coming out the side are still the best, save for Di2. I love their stuff.

Andy is an Italianophile and his comments should be disregarded as the tosh they are.
SRAM is for winners. It is noisy so other inferior road users can hear you coming and move the fuck out the way. It is also the most pretty.
Campag looks like it was made by a bunch of amateur engineers in a small factory in Italy handed down by an amateur engineer father.
Oh...

Shimano is for winners. SRAM is for old ladies. Campag is for old men and Hackney residents.

I don't really examine dog cocks.
