Is there a single sided Time option that lets you ride in flat shoes as well as cleats?

no way. you can fit them at whatever angle you want- same two bolt fastening as spd cleats.
Way. on the ones i have, there's no adjustment on the angle -i wish there was. i've used SPD cleats and eggbeater cleats as well, and could adjust the angle on those.
so i don't know whats going on with the alium ones. -

I am not sure you can adjust the angles on the alium pedals. I think that is why I went for the roc's.

so i don't know whats going on with the alium ones.i am genuinely confused now- even rifled through my cupboards to find my shoes (been riding clips and straps for ages now) and i've def managed to instal the cleats at an angle. i primarily release my left foot when stopping and have set the cleat to make the critical disengaging angle of my foot smaller than that of the right. if you do decide to have another go at adjusting them let me know how you get on.

Perhaps your shoes had extremely narrow grooves where the bolts sit? Or perhaps you're just mechanically inept; though this condition should clear up now that you're a dad.

eggbeaters are rubbish! Times are great, get the cheap Alium ones, they are all metal, and if you can be fucked, you could strip them to silver.
As object said, fit and forget.
Explain that to my pair then. Fitted 3 years ago and forgotten. Have been on all my bikes since then.
Plus, if anyone is worried about cosmetics of those ugly Times, then the Eggbeaters are almost invisible... -

the angle adjustment is basically in the shoes themselves rather than the cleat. the metal plate shifts fore and aft as well a being able to rotate a few degrees, the slots should be slightly wider to allow a change of angle.

nimhbus: Sounds more like an issue with the shoes. Do they only have a fixed set of holes drilled or something? The cleats should be able to install with quite a range of angular adjustment. All the shoes I've seen have a sliding mount that allows SPDs (what I use) to rotate or move for and aft.

ok I'm looking for pedals for my build the frame is a A F Mills in baby blue and I've got loads of nice shiny components for it.
the problem is
these don't really go and I'm not willing to use toe clips...
Does any one know and time mtb compatible pedals that would be more suitable???
I don't want to end up with different shoes for different bikes.thanks

i say go the eggbeaters if you really care about the looks of the bike, but if your after functionality over looks then go with any of them, anyway pedals are under your feet so it doesnt really matter if you ride the bike

Crank Brothers Eggbeaters cleats are made out of cheese, there rubbish. the bearings are made out of something weaker than cheese, and their bushings are made out of custard. Fucking rubbish product.

Atac Roc XS on my Fort, no worries. Easy engage and almost impossible to be stuck when stationery.
