It's fashion gone crazy. Surely if you're on the bike you won't be able to see the offending pedals?
-
• #3
heh I know what you're saying, I was just wondering if there was a more shiny version I hadn't seen

silver SPD's??

Opinion on atacs, buy them, fit them, forget about them. Flawless.
And really don't worry about them not looking right, as dovoneil says you won't be able to see them. If you were that worried about the form over function you'd be using toeclips. -

Eggbeaters. People stop you in the street to discuss them.
Shit for tricks, though, not that I can do any except skids. They're fine for skids.

eggbeaters are rubbish! Times are great, get the cheap Alium ones, they are all metal, and if you can be fucked, you could strip them to silver.
As object said, fit and forget.

why would you buy the aliums over a more expensive atac? im genuinly curious as i am thinking about getting some? A friend of mine bought some slightly more expensive atacs and has been having some problems with them as well. are the aliums more durable or something?

I knew someone would say that.

I was reading that the square binding spring on the likes of the atac xs can be bent out of shape over time, meaning that eventually even cranking up the tension makes no difference and they become a bit floppy. The aliums and the ROC atacs have a round binding spring and are apparently more durable.

How about some nice white ones?

I've been riding mine for about a year now, truly fit and forget.

amazing, flawless pedals, who cares if they match your bike they are under your shoes so no one will see them.

ATAC Massive

ATACs may hurt your knees, they hurt mine.
but, since it seems to be trendy to say they are 'fit and forget', then get some Eggbeater SL. you can fit them, then forget them.

Aliums FTW
cheap, strong, durable.
Rubbish if you want to try tricks, though.

• #20
I've forgotten what pedals I have on my bike. And I've got a hangover.

How come? I've heard this before, but wondered what it might be about them that can aggravate the knees.
-
• #22
a bit odd since they have plenty of float. any pedal will hurt your knees if the cleats are set at the wrong angle for your phisionoglaonamy
-
• #23
it isn't possible to set an angle for the cleats, at least not the ones that come with aliums. There's no play in the bolt plate, it's fixed in a straight ahead position.

If you were that worried about the form over function you'd be using toeclips.
well, you wouldn't, as toeclips look well de la wank.
ok I'm looking for pedals for my build the frame is a A F Mills in baby blue and I've got loads of nice shiny components for it.
the problem is
these don't really go and I'm not willing to use toe clips...
Does any one know and time mtb compatible pedals that would be more suitable???
I don't want to end up with different shoes for different bikes.
thanks
