  • Has anyone pointed out that the only thing that is uglier or worse designed and less pratical than a BrooklynMW bike is a grobag?

At least they are made quickly by exploited 3rd world children.

  • I need help....

Tell us something we don't know.

  • hey ed
which model and size is yr missus bag? thats the best bag ive seen in ages...looks big enough without getting into the ridiculously big category
    cheers

Matt? Leaving Team Rasta? If so i'll take it off your hands :)

  • paging EEI, you back in the game

My offer of apologetic beer round is still open

ps. got meself Brooks bag :-P

  • I'll be at south polo tonight. SE1

    Bring cider.

  • Cider I like

  • got meself Brooks bag :-P

oh dear god...you are dead to me.

    Fixed.

    ;)

  • I'll get me coat

I was joking with that Brooks. My wife would kill me. And I don't own a matching tweed jacket. Sorry, I'm a wind up sometimes. I'm more of a handbag man myself, remember? Have nice corduroy one.
I'd buy something Scott makes, but I'm not sure how to humble myself. Tesco carrier bag will have to do for me.

ps. Katanas are great, but I'm not in Delta Force, so I'll stick with my old ways.

  • Katanas:

    Kata bag:

    Ok I stop now :p

I'd recommend a theo or a tommy tappy big enough to stash camera gear, stick some inserts in there and away you go :)

  • Thanks, Kata. I've seen them and found them really well made. If I need a backpack kinda thing for some reason it will be on my list. I admit, that before it wasn't an issue - I just chucked the flight case in the boot or on the back of our van. More cycling will mean that I need more mobility. Also I need something to fit Nikon D3 in with a lens and it's a struggle. Got myself a small Pentax K-M for cycling around to save space/weight. By the way, how deep is Theo then? Can I lay 6"x6" big camera flat at the bottom (ca. 10" deep with the lens mounted)?

Yep the Theo will deal with that no problem, its a massive bag, ridiculously massive in fact, you are more than welcome to have a look at mine at SE drinks or indeed East drinks next week as I will be at both, plus its ultra stable as well, when you do up the whole x strap/stabilizing strap system which works perfectly, so it makes it really comfy and easy to carry large loads whilst cycling.
In terms of camera gear, I've had 2 d300 bodies with Grips (want a D3, nice camera!), f2.8 70-200mm zoom, a few 2 way radios, 15 inch laptop, power supply, and a complete tool kit in my ninja hip pouch......and believe me when I say there was plenty of room to spare!

  • OK, I hope to feel much better next week (maybe they'll let my cycle?), so we can have a look. I'll bring the camera too - you can play with it and decide if there's any advantage over the D300.

  • I had a weird dream I got a D3 last night, and woke up to find my trusty D300 still there. Oh the pain. Low light capability still awesome though.

  • Haha, i've had a play with one already, rented one out once for a day, the only performance advantage I can see above using a D300 with grip is:
Slightly increased fps, faster autofocus (when tracking moving objects), and exceptionally better quality at higher ISO's.
I don't care so much about the first two, but the better IQ at higher ISO's would be extremely helpful for a lot of things seeing as I have started doing quite a few weddings these days, and i'm using little Nikon flashes so better IQ at higher ISO's enables me to keep good clean files whilst effectively increasing the reach of my flashes.
    Anyhoo back to the bags!

  • autofocus (when tracking moving objects)

That shouldn't be the case, they have the same AF system

  • That shouldn't be the case, they have the same AF system

True, but the D3 has the far superior battery, which is what enables it to hit such a high FPS, and is what also gives it faster AF reaction. Hence why the FPS goes up when you put the grip kit on the D300.

  • Scott, are any Murtle phone pouches gonna be produced in the near(ish) future? Would love one...

  • Cool, thanks

  • Scott, at the end I have the pink and camo bag, the one from Wayne. I no going to ask you to short the lenght on the straps, even if I know you wnat, but in stead ask you, if will be possible to give some stiches to the strap Fred cut
I reckon will take just a few minutes, I'm not in a hurry.
    please let me know

  • Apart from mine obviously...

  • ?

  • Murtle pouch I was on about

  • Show-off

Were you riding your polo bike on Kennington Park Road last night at like half 6?

IMO the best camera/camcorder bags are made by Kata, Lowepro and Domke. I have owned all 3 in the past. Peli cases are great, if you have a car or van.

Domke also make inserts, so if you have a bag which you want to divide up and use part of for camera equipment, just buy some of their inserts and put them inside.
